Hi everyones.
New to the forum, invited over to join here, from the Aussie site, by btob (G'day mate - AC here). Looks like a lot of fun to be had, to read about and thanks in advance for any welcome msg's. The story here is been off the bikes for a while due to work and other issues (travelled a whole lot, often), so when things normalized again, plus had some corrective surgery to fix a 20 year old ankle problem, with lots of physio ahead, the best thing I could think of was to change gears for physio! The bike I had in mind was the ZX12R and the perfect one seemed to find me, so who was I to argue! As for a bit about myself, well, used to race professionally many eons ago, then life had to move on after a monumental 155mph accident when the rear suspension suffered a failure during a 300km (180mile) race. Had one more race later that year, but then retired. Sometime in the next couple of years, I'd like to get back to the US of A and spend 6 months or so riding about the land, visiting old and new friends. Cheers for now and I hope I can be of some value in responding to questions, queries and other theories while visiting here. Cheers and thanks for the invite btob. PS - vulcanbabe.. to find your way about here, read the FAQ's and also, this is more like a huge notice board (where you read other peoples messages, then respond to the ones where you can offer advice, post some photo's, tell a tale about a ride, etc), than it is like a chat site. Although at some point, a live chatsite may be a good thing.

Thanks for the g'day. If you're over the Aussie site, I'm there as AlligatorCastrator and said a g'day there under the post about your bike. Good to be here and if I thought I had some reading to do on the Aussie pages, well, there's a year or more worth to get through here. Scrolling through the pages here, noticed your post RE: riding partner. Congrats to you both. Although we're not together now, many years ago my girlfriend used to sometimes ride my ex race bike. At that time it had become an almost superbike for the street. We used to share it as her bike was mainly for little trips to the shop etc. Plus, she too loved the incredible feeling of being on that jigger. The local cops knew me well, were sort of always after me for things which of course I didn't do! Well, not often anyways... Most times, anyone who was on a GSXR750 with some wild tuning, doing something wrong, they blamed me.. Plus - on the rare times it was me - they never could get close enough to catch me.. But this one day, a young rookie decided he was going to nail the racer.. So he radios in, gets the trap set, 5 cop cars, all ready to pounce on me once he was ready to "get me". Anyway, long story short, all is set, he calls them in. Lights sirens, action, he whips out onto the wrong side of the road, speeds down and almost cuts me off, the other cars decend at the intersection where they had planned it for. Lights and sirens etc abound, guns drawn, "Off the bike", he yells.. However it was not I - but my lovely lady, who hops off the bike, lifts her helmet, her long hair blowing in the breeze, wearing a smile almost a mile wide as nearly a dozen cops look at the young rookie cop - who now has some explaining to do about the lies he told to get the trap set. Lies which are about to be proven very, very false.. He had called in saying he was in a silent pursuit, had positive ID on me, the race bike rider, doing crazy things etc. ALL of it was a lie and now, well, things weren't looking too good for him The moral of the story? If you are going to lie, make certain it is a good one and not a bust like this cop's lies.. If you are going to go fast and do crazy things, it is best to do it on the track.. If you are going to do crazy things on the road, sometimes things don't go as you planned and someone could really get hurt - luckily this time it was only the Cop's pride and reputation.. It could easily have been that crazy cop going overboard and running my dear girly off the road - thinking he was getting me... And finally, Svetka - if your partner does begin to do wheelies and other things on his bike, be wary when you borrow the keys Anyways, that's it for my thanking everyone for their warm welcome and is the end of my rant.. Time to think about breaky and taking the bike out for a a little sing and a dance. Cheers all. Tod.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and not very good at getting around on the site yet but getting better. lots of good info. being posted everyday. I bought an 06 Vulcan 900 last Sep. I only have about 1100 miles on it so far. plan on riding more now that the weather is getting right again. This being my first bike I not too sure what to expect out of it. I'm 6' 3" 220 and feel like I might need a bigger bike but want to get alot of learning and experience on the 900 before I move up. I noticed that in a motorcycle magazine artical that the first upgrade should be a better saddle and sealed wheels for tubeless tires. Any recomendations on the wheels and tires would be greatly appreciated. I have ordered a mustang seat with the driver back rest, cobra mini sissy bar and cobra luggage rack. Thanks.
