Hey, name's Eddie, just got my first bike!
I just came from a dealer and was quoted $7,300.01 otd the door for a pre-owned 2006 ZX6R with 10,000 miles. The bike is beautiful, but is shelling out over 7k for it reasonable? I'm brand new to the whole motorcycle thing and I'm not trying to get fc*ked.

I'm new to the forum. I've been riding off and on for 55 years. Started on a Harley, then to a BSA, Moto Guzzi, Gold Wing (2) and now a Vulcan 500. Kind of back to basics. Nice to have a motorcycle again and not a small car. Any way, I have a couple of questions about the bike. I got it used last year with 78 miles on it. It now has a little over 2000. I didn't put gas stabilizer in it when I put it up for the winter. Now, I'm having trouble with it back-firing and losing some power under load. Don't want to take the carbs apart. I've put some gas additive in the tank. But I've also been told that I need to use high test. Is that right?
Welcome to all you new guys/gals...glad you decided to join us!![]()

Hi to everyone.
New rider here, and new to the forum. I passed my BRT class, got my endorsement, and I've been practicing on a honda 125 for a few weeks. This weekend we went a brought home a 91 Vulcan 500. She's a bit more of a handful than the honda, or the suzuki I rode in class...Ok, she's down right scary at the moment, but that will pass (I hope)!!
My husband has a 81 Suzuki GS850 for comuting and just running around. Back in the early 80's, before kids, we had a Kawasaki 400 3cy/2 stroke (his description, not mine, I couldn't remember). It was sold when the kids came along. So the bikes aren't new (and we aren't either) but that's ok, it's a start, and It is great to be riding. Just wanted to say...Howdy!

Welcome Kari;
Us too.
Kids are grown, it's our turn to play. We found ourselve living where we couldn't use our canoe to explore so we now canoe on two wheens instead. Bike camping is quite similar. We even indulge our foolishness with such distractions as handlebar mounted camers to keep track of some of the places we end up. The 500 won't be a handfull for long. It's a nice size.
Enjoy.
Hi and Thanks for the welcome. My husband, Ron, and I enjoy camping. Now that the kids are grown, its usually just us, so we want to travel & camp instead of just setting up a basecamp in one place. I had been nagging him about a motorhome when the motorcycle bug hit. Travel by motorcycle sounds much more interesting! There's nothing like being a part of the environment your riding through, rather than isolated in a vehicle.
I've seen a few bike mounted videos that people have created. Lots of fun to watch. Collecting all the gadgets and goodies is part of the fun too!

Hi
Got a '77 KZ 750 as a fixer-uper. So far all I've done is swop the existing gunk filled tank for a cleaner one. I should probably now take out the carbs and get someone to clean them, but it looks like I'd have to move everything behind the airbox, which itself is behind the carbs, to get them out, as well as the four screws and throttle cable. If they can be cleaned without removing them, I'd be happy (putting carb clean in the tank and running the engine?). Removing them might be simple to some but I'll try find a manual to make sure no mistakes are made. The fuel tap is not entirely working, well not working on the reserve position. I think a little filter in the tap is at fault, though I don't know really. Two little plastic pipes or tubes going from the fuel tap to carb were rotten. I replaced them with transparent pipes of the same width. The seller said the carb was dirty, but the petrol that drained from the tank and out the bottom of it seemed perfectly clean when I took the screw on the bottom of it. I have cleaned off most of the rust. My hope is that having put a drop of water in the battery and left it charging, the bike will start under its own power. My Honda Lead could start without a battery. I don't think it's possible on this bike.
I also own a Harley Davidson Streetrod, bought last year, '06 spec. It's used as a daily commuter and, if it's not raining, also on the weekend.
I used to own an '01 VN 800 Classic.
