Default Strange scoot

As I was driving home from work this afternoon, I passed the strangest scooter....

As I was driving along I saw what appeared to be a scooter, with a convertible top. Naw...couldn't be....

Son of a gun...It is a scooter with a convertible top....

There used to be a local guy who rode around town in the winter here on a small scooter with a homemade top made out of 1X2's and sheet plastic. Dumbest thing I ever saw.

He can reach a little over 50 on that thing more or less. At that speed the top must catch a lot of wind and make it a squirrly ride.

You wouldnt want to be riding that in a strong side wind but it would be great in the rain i guess

And he's enjoying a ride as well as using less gas.

I can remember seeing an accessory for motorcycles like that. It was a plastic bag looking thing you could pull over the motorcycle to ride it in the rain. It covered the the whole bike and you, except for you legs. I know I saw it in a magazine somewhere, but never saw anyone use it.

That scooter strongly resembles BMW's C1 (pictured below). However, the marque on the back is not the BMW Roundel. It's something else; maybe Victory Motorcycles? I'm not much on european motorcycle brands. FYI, the C1 is not available in the U.S.

I like that BMW version! I wonder, though, whether the top would do much of a job of keeping out rain. A lot of it blows in from the side...
