Default Kawasaki 550 GPZ 1983

This is my first post . . . my dad just bought me a Kawasaki 550 GPZ 1983 for my 23rd b-day.

The guy who my dad bought it from is rebuilding a lot of the engine so I dont have to do a lot of work to it hehehe

I have only seen two images of it so far, and those have been on my dads phone. I have lots of images of it from the net.

All I know about the bike is that its painted kawi green, has an aftermarket exhaust and that the carbs have been cleaned and such, and that the gas tank is being worked on.

heres an imge that closely matches what mine looks like, just that mine is green. . .

Any one have any suggestions for enhancing the bike?? IE: putting duel head lights in, duel exhaust, ext.

I considered green for my GPz but got blue for free. It was kind of a no brainer after that.

Ive ridden on Kawi green machines many times, from snow-mobiles to ATV's to bikes (always the passenger) and I cant get over it. I wont be changing the paint right away though, I need to learn how to actually ride the bike first. I dont have my liscence yet or anything, so Im leaving it the colors it is so if I screw up and drop the bike or something, then I wont have lost any money on a really nice paint job. But I hope I never EVER wreck the bike or anything. I love Kawi's waaaaaay too much to intentionally damage it!

Agreed! Riding safe is one of my first concerns. I have a 14 month old daughter and I want her to be on the back of the bike like I was with my dad when I was younger, but I dont want to till shes a bit older and I can figure out how my dad strapped me to the bike. . .

*grins* going from Toronto, Canada to Ohio, to FLorida, to Mexico and back again. . . all on my dads bike. I was only like 10 or 11 years old then and I used to sleep a lot on the bike but my dad would strap me to the bike with a sort of ratchet strap thingie so I wouldnt fall off. . . IT WAS AWSOME! My dad loved it as well. . . I should post the images of my dads bike if I can find them again. . . It was an intruder. . .Dont recall the year though. . . Ill have to find that out.

Blue is nice. My dads bike was a candy apple blue. It was amazing! It had so many murals on it! He was from the era when it was all dragons, skulls, pretty much his whole bike was covered in Boris' work.

I want my bike to be a deep royal purple with a pearl on it so it shines. . . I made an image of it, might post it and see what people think. . .

My dad had an old Harley when I was a kid and that bike scared the heck out of me but all I remember of riding on it was being in front of him on the seat looking down at this big, beautiful, multi-colored sunburst on the top of the tank of this loud, vibrating, blue monster.
