    Default Vulcan 900

    Hello everyone!

I am new here, so please be patient!!!
Yesterday my husband (Spazz in this forum)and I purchased the new 2006 Vulcan 900 Classic LT. What a GORGEOUS bike!!!

However, I am here to ask a question concerning the earlier 900's. While we were out riding around and visiting on the new bike, we were told something I found hard to believe. One person told us that this bike may be considered a "new model" simply because of some changes in the appearance and options. They claim they work with someone that owns a Vulcan 900 in the early 2000 model. Can this be true? I'm wondering if their co-worker owns a Vulcan 800 and they feel sure they heard Vulcan 900?!

My husband and I have been researching new bikes for many months. There has been alot of hype about this new 2006 model and how it is the first year that Kawasaki came out with a 900 mid-cruiser bike. I remember my brother owning a Kawasaki 900 years ago (early 80's), but it was called a Z...something...900. It wasn't a Vulcan.

Please help shed some light on this subject, if you can.

    Thanks!!!!!
    Cheri

you're right. This is the first year they have offered the Vulcan in a 900. It was always just the 800 a,b, or drifter (c?). I don't know much, but a lot of the 900 is the same, just a little more dressed up and a bore-d (?) out engine

More people will follow me with much more knowledge on the subject

the vulcan 900 is an all new bike for 2006. some of the items maybe a caryover from the old 800 but the wheelbase and frame are different, the final drive solution is belt, the 800 was chain.

you've picked up one fine motorcycle, i have sat on one at a bike show.

    get us some pictures...

    welcome!!

    Thanks SO much!
It just felt like someone took a little air out of our balloon! We are SO proud and happy to own this new model bike, and someone implies they have been around "for years". Silly me!!!! Should have trusted my gut and all the research we did before buying this bike. Heck, there were problems after they assembled the bike at the dealership. When the service man started going over the bike for us and showing us what was what, he couldn't find the air filter. He called another mechanic up and he said, "I'm not sure, this is the first one I've ever seen".

We just brought it home yesterday, so it's too soon to tell you very much, but it rides real smooth. The seat and floorboards make you feel comfortable. Best of all (at least to me!) it looks sharp and turned heads on the road last night.

I have some pictures posted on my little personal web site, so if you'd like to see them....

    You all are so kind!
I promise I will be sticking around and learning more from you all. Since this is a new model bike, I'll share our experiences with it as we go along. Maybe it will be of help to others.

**By the way, as you all are probably aware, that web page is on a Yahoo "freebie". After so much traffic at once, it stops displaying it and gives you some message about the member....blah, blah, blah.... If that happens to you, please check back on the page again later.

    I already did that.

Very nice bike you have there! I like the red/black color scheme and the studed leathergoods.

It is for sure a new model. It is like my wife's. She just bought a new Ninja 650. ...Yesterday I laughed to myself as I heard one of my employees arguing with her,.lol..he was saying" it must be a 600,or 636,there is no 650 ninja".

You just have to let it go and tell them they must be right.

Did / Doesn't Kawasaki make a 900 snowmobile or something like that? (I think it came up in one of my google searches using "Kawasaki 900"). Anyhoo, it would be strange if that's what the guy was talking about ...talk about understating "some changes in the appearance and options". heh

Chances are, he was confused with the 800, but my version is funnier!. The Vulcan 900 replaced the Vulcan 800, but there's not much that didn't get worked over in some way to even remotely consider it the same bike with just "some changes in the appearance and options". New frame, new final drive, same engine (but bored out to be 903cc).

I'm looking to get the VN900LT as my first bike in a month or so (if it's up to me ...a month, right after I take my MSF course ...if it's up to my wife .."or so"). I really like the red/black combination, but I think I'll be going with the silver/black for visibility ...although it probably just depends on whatever is in stock when I walk into the stealership.

    Congrats on getting one.

    Wow !

Decked out like that the 900 looks like the Nomad's cousin. And the 900 probably averages 45mpg -ouch, I don't really want to go there

That bike looks nice and big and comfy, have ya'll tried it for 2up riding yet ?

Continued updates on how you like/dislike anything and everything about the bike would greatly be appreciated. I am considering a change in motorcycle in the near future and the 900 Classic is one of the front runners.

    Pretty bike you have there.
