I'm sorry that happened! Where I come from, leaving the scene of a spill is nearly as bad as leaving the scene of an accident.
I too am sorry to hear your story and your situation. I pray that you don't have any hidden injuries.

I agree with snicker. You're being fair, but I also think that everyone else is right too. I've seen too many people get screwed because they didn't protect themselves by getting a lawyer.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

I agree, get a lawyer. I learned the hard way to let the professionals do their jobs. You may also want to settle for a little more than you're general expenses, as this will also help cover the cost of the attourney. Guess my advice is...

...make sure you can sleep in your skin at night, but don't forget to look out for yourself. I am sure that neither the tire shop nor the insurance company have your best interest at heart, so someone has to.

Towards the end of the night we decided to head to walmart to get a few things. I was riding my 1998 Kawasaki ninja 250 w/9000 miles on it. We all went to make a turn through a stop light and my bike went out from underneath me. We were not going fast, turning sharp or anything stupid. (10 mph) I was ridind with a few police officers i know. I went to pick the bike up and fell right back down. The road was slicker than ice. there was an oil type substance all over the intersection. I called the cops and filled out the report. after all was said and done, I went to find out where the fluid trail lead to. It brought me strait to a local tire shop. I found out that they spilt hydrochloride all over several major roadways. I then called the cops once again and had them finish the accident report stating the cause of the accident and who was at fault. Once all that was taken care of, i went to the hospital to get checked over. my wrist hurt and i had busted up my elbow pretty good. The xrays showed no broke bones but i have blood in my urine so i have to go back. I got up this morning to take my bike in to get estimates and they totaled it out. they said it was worth only $1,025... I told the insurance company no way. I paid more than that for that bike 2 months ago and had an aftermarket exhaust on it. I told them it wasnt the money i wanted. I wanted either my bike fixed right or a new one. I figured since i tore my shoes, jeans and jacket up... Destroyed my bike.... and had to deal with the pain all night and now sore that the insurance company would be willing to make me satisfied. I didnt want money. I just wanted my medical bills covered and a new bike. No $ for pain and suffering. Do you guys think im being fair. Im an honest person and do not believe in taking advantage of anything but i feel like im getting screwed if they cut me a check for $1,025!!!! any input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Jeff
Did you check to see if this is a controlled substance? If it is, there are some pretty big fines to be paid for leaving a spill like that.
