    Default Missing Forum

Where is the "I want to cry like a little baby and suck my thumb" forum? ...because wanting a motorcycle and not being able to get a motorcycle is driving me flippin' crazy!

I caught the bug a couple of months ago, but some "Suprise, dumba**, you went to the wrong hospital" medical bills caught up with me, so until I get those cleared, I can't buy a pack of gum on credit.

Not being able to feed the beast is really starting to effect me bad, though. I'm talking severe depression after taking the MSF and looking at the gear I've already bought (yeah, that's funny, I have a full set of leathers for a bike I don't have) everyday, and to top it off some of the best weather in Kansas for this time of year. I'm still planning on July ...the plan has gone from Jan '07, to August '06, to July, to June, to May, back to June, back to July ...but I can definitely see why some people practically bankrupt themselves to get on two wheels. It's a good thing I don't control the family finances; otherwise I'd have no electricity, no cable, no phone, and my wife's car would be repossessed, but I'd have a new Vulcan 900LT in my driveway ...

Jeez, when I do finally get a bike, I'll be at the stealership, hugging the gas tank and bawling like a baby ...which has happened only once before in my life, when my daughter was born.

Is anyone else having the same problem? Maybe we can get that forum I mentioned above created and start a support group or something ...

Gee, I sorta have the same problem, but in reverse!!!
I have a pretty new Vulcan 900 LT parked in my garage. It even has my name on the title too!!! However, I can't actually "drive" it

The darn MSF class is booked until September!!!! So I have to spend ALL summer, with the pretty riding weather, NOT being able to drive it.

I also have the gear! I have pretty black fringe chaps, my black suede fringe jacket, a black fringe vest.......

    So I feel your pain!!!!!!!

When raising 4 kids and on a fixed income I experienced years of motorcycle withdrawls. I did manage to do side work and trade labor for dirt bikes which helped keep the riding going but I missed out on alot of street riding. Now the kids are all grown and gone and I am fortunate to enjoy street bikes on a regular basis.

Hang in there as best you can. It can be tuff to do I know.

Maybe it's time to set your sights a little lower. There are plenty of bikes out there that cost less than your first house - the 900 is not one of them. Getting a bike is a balance between needs, wants and finances.

Someone here wrote that if they couldn't ride a vn2000, they wouldn't ride anything. I'm the opposite - I'd rather ride a moped than not have a bike.

Just save save save...At least you have your gear. When you finally do get your bike, it will feel that much better. I waited years and years and detractors saying don't get a bike until I finally decided over a year and a half ago to just go take the MSF...a month or so later I got my bike and it has been heaven since. I wish I had learned earlier. Regardless, hopefully you get your bike soon.

    Don't think I haven't been tempted!!!!!!
If it was a used bike, I may have by now. But we have only made ONE payment on it so far, and probably only really "own" one spoke in the front wheel now
Would hate to total out the bike this early in its life!!!!!

    BikerBeagle,
Maybe you could check into renting a bike for a weekend somewhere locally to at least get out and see how you do. It may not be the 900, but just to rent and ride, it shouldn't matter what they have.

That's why I went without riding for so many years. When I divorced my first husband, he sold my motorycle (without asking me!). And then I was a divorced mother of two, struggling through college, and I didn't have two nickels to rub together. Then I went through a few rough years when I couldn't even think about buying a bike. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I was in a position to take up riding again and get a bike.

Hang in there. I strongly believe that if something is meant to be, it'll happen. You never know what might be around the corner. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, I waited about 25 years from when I first started drooling over bikes. T'was back in highschool around '77 when I first tacked pictures of Kawasaki bikes on my bedroom wall. Yup, even back then I knew Kawasaki was the brand for me. I had great plans (okay, fantasies) with a buddy to buy bikes and travel across Canada. Yeah, right! Anyway, of course I never did anything about it and then came love, marriage, Dave pushing not one but two baby carriages. Mortage, two cars..we all know the story. Finally the timing was right three years ago and its been pure bliss since then. Good things come to those who wait....and wait, and wait..........

You could not have said it better Longbeachgary, I do not put up silly statements like that. I drive what ever I can afford, and if the price is right compared to my current economy status.........it will be a Geo Metro or a Honda 90 trail...if that is all I can afford.

After all that is how I ended up with my current 1600, the price was right for a salvaged wreck.
