Default Luggage for Sissy Bar?

Is there such a thing as luggage made to attach to only a sissy bar?
When we went to VA we strapped down a back pack to the back of the sissy bar. Some of you may have seen it in my pictures from the trip thread. Of course, the back pack didn't hold much though Since our bike is a new model, aftermarket parts don't seem to exist yet, like a bike rack.

So, does anyone have just a sissy bar that they attach something to for travel?
Do they work? I did find one on ebay that said it was made for the sissy bar, but not sure if it works.

Okay, enough rambling.....any ideas?

Thanks!
Cheri

I have a Nelson Rigg luggage back that fits around the sissy bar and sits on the luggage rack and works very well.

Your welcome!

Cheri, I found mine on ebay. It's the 900 model but looks similar to the pic above.

CheriAnn - there are several manufactures out there. Nancy and I went with Saddlemen's Renegade model:

It's huge and comes with a roll bag that goes on top. The little pouches on the side zip off and there are three storage compartments with zippers. The roll strapps on top. It's got alsmot two cubic feet of storage space. Unfortunatly, it costs a fair amount. But, it looks cool on the bike.

This is what it looks like on the back of the Nomad.

I also have the nelson rigg bag the 600 model, a little smaller than the 900. Very nice bag, quite a bit of room, many pockets and expandable.

Cary, I found some on ebay, but concerned about this statement:
"Attaches to your backrest using our unique “Full-Nelson” mounting system
Can be mounted to rest on luggage rack or on the seat

Does this mean I have to have a bike rack too for it to work?

Thanks!

Cheri

Most bags can sit on either the seat or on the luggage rack. To fit over the back of the bike you will need a luggage rack and a sissy bar.

With out the luggage rack, it has to sit on the passenger seat for support.

Thanks John!
That's what I was afraid of

Now I'll have to wait it out until there is one available for the 900.
In the meantime, I am still going to start pricing the luggage you all have recommended

You can tie a smaller bag on the bike between the fender and the tbag ,that way the space between the bag and fender is used up.v Only thing you night want to consider is whether or not it could scratch the fender with the other bag. you could probably cover the fender with something first so as not to scratch it.

I have a very similar one, except it is from Kuryakyn.

River Road Gear also makes some great nylon bags that are not too expensive. www.riverroadgear.com

Here is a link to a home made luggae rack made for a vstar
Cheri. Its not the most beautiful luggage rack. But it may give you some ideas as to what you may be able to make for a temporary one until one is made for the bike. I am sure the dimensions would need to be changed for the 900 backrest. Just and idea

I'd go withever Kawasloppy has in their accessory line for the backrest/rack and use a T-Bag, Kuryakin, Saddlemen, or Nelson Rigg. There are a lot of choices in that area.

Here are some racks people made themselves. It might give you some ideas for something you (or could have someone else) weld together:

http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/fo...-05-nomad.html

http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/fo...home-made.html (This one is courtesy of our friend Mr. Ferrari, but the pics aren't there anymore. You may want to ask him to send them to you).

If you only need to to support a bag, nothing fancy is required since it will be covered up. Just take it off when you aren't hauling a bag.
