Default Texas Hill Country - The Twisted Sister Tour

Joyce and I are back from a five night six day tour of the Texas Hill Country just south of Fredericksburg. Total trip length was 825 miles. Here's a link to our adventures!

    Twisted Sister Tour

As you will find out, the Twisted Sisters were none to pleased that we attempted to slay all three on one run! They did their best to stop us, but...

nice writeup, plenty of riding and it looked like the weather was very accommodating.

Nice write-up. My only quibble is that I have just the opposite feelings toward Hwy 335 vs 336. It may be due to the bikes we ride, but me and my Nomad loved the up and downs on 335 a bit more than the twisties of 336.

As for the bugs, if you did this trip again with the full frontal protection of a big ole Nomad windshield and lowers you would have only been cleaning those two items at the end of the day

As for riding the 3's, I think its something every rider within 3-400 miles of the Hill Country should try. But overall I still think my beloved East Texas is much prettier country and if you live in my area you know there are roads that are every bit the equal of the 3's for riding fun and pleasure

Spent 2 years in North East Texas (Pittsburg to be exact) riding non-motorized bikes in and around the farm roads - so I know the area well. Even owned my own bicycle shop. Great roads to be sure!

As to the sisters, well - as I mentioned, everyone will have their own favorite. Ride 'em both if you can!

That is pretty cool. Is that tunnel still open at all? Bet it would be cool to go into.

It's open on at least one end - that's where the bats leave from. Not sure I'd wanna venture in there though. From what I understand bat guano is pretty nasty stuff! They have a "viewing area" where you can sit and watch the bats come out in the evening. But, seeing as how we were actually lost I didn't think it was wise to wait until dark to find our way back.

Sounds like you two had a good time on your first overnighter. Each trip is an adventure. And, you chose some excellent riding territory. Miss it.
