Good for you Kim! You are going to love that bike!

Will you be coming back north from Vegas up Hwy 95?

Depends on if I fly down or not..... I really want to see my son so it is a good likelyhood I will do that either on the way down or the way back.

There is a member that expressed interest in my 800 that lives in Vegas so maybe I'll be delivering it there on the way down.....

Yes I did as a matter of fact, and I will tomorrow too...

Great riding weather here right now. My hands actually were frozen on the way home from work the last two mornings. I NEED some inserts or winter gloves. Other than that, it's perfecto.

Your gonna love riding that V2K home....start practicing your Grinning.

Good gloves are worth their weight in gold! I took Missy into Carson City this morning and it was 38* when I left at 10:30. Had full leathers, including my winter gloves and my hands were comfy. Even through the leather my legs got cold though.

Thats what I am hoping for Mike. One of the guys riding with me today had knee surgery a couple months ago (complete replacement) and that cold air really caused him problems. Going to put some on his Volusia first.

It would be awesome to have one of each if we could afford it but like many of us here I have to buy them one at a time. That being said...I am now leaning toward a V2K because I already own a 1500 and for me...buying a Nomad would be almost like buying a bike very similar to what I already own. Believe me when I say that the Nomad has had my interest for a long time...and it still does...but I really like the looks of the V2K LT as it's also my style of bike and has the power I'd enjoy like the other V2K owners do.

I KNOW you'll be happy with the 2K! Someone asked, "Do you really need 125ci?" Well, yes I do -- and that's because I've now experienced the power and smoothness of that motor. And the simple fact of life is that you just can't go back. I've tried it before when I picked up a 'Zuk 650 after owning a ZL900. I rode it half a dozen times and gave it away -- just gave it away. It was disappointing, and so would be any bike that I ride now that has less power. A step down feels like settling, and you'll never truly be happy.

So, if you no longer want to ride a scoot with less than 125-130 ft/lbs of torque and 100+hp -- don't buy this bike! You have been warned!

I can relate to riding a bike that just didn't work for you. While I really did love my 1981 Yamaha 650 Special II it just did not fit me at all since I am so tall and riding it was like trying to fit into clothes that were too small to wear. I'm sure I could have modified it to make it fit me but I couldn't bring myself to destroy it's original looks so I sold it instead. Buying my 1500 has been an awesome experience for me and I'll probably keep this bike for along time...but...I am looking at a bigger bike that will fit me even better than my 1500 fits me. After riding the V2K in Red Lodge last July I was very impressed by it's handling...fit...and power...and have been thinking about it since. I LOVED how that bike went down the highway and felt like it was on rails and when I gave it throttle it was so efortless to move out. It is a very impressive motorcycle so there are alot of positive reasons I can see to own one.

That's the best and only reason to choose a particular bike. You're looking for something that fits you and makes the experience for YOU the most enjoyable. From what I've read, you spend a lot of time on two wheels. Each of us has to make the most of that - relative to our preferences and means.

I couldn't have said it better, G!

I bought my 1500 used with 3,000 miles on it in June of 2004. It now has 29,452 miles on it. I also had a 750 that I was riding to work so was adding miles to it as well. I really prefer to ride motorcycles instead of drive my truck so that's the reason for the mileage.

If memory serves me...you're a tall person also, correct? Did you add risers to your bars and if so...which ones did you go with?

I'm sorry, my friend, your memory is failing.

I'm only 5'9" and the bike fits me perfectly. I've also heard taller riders say the same thing, so I guess it comes down to riding stance. My only issue was that I couldn't comfortably reach any traditional highway peg setup, so I fabbed a swingout peg off the floorboards that works terrific for my build.

LOL...

I love it when I can't remember chit.

I do remember seeing a pic of your pegs below the floorboards. How are those working?

Like I said, can't go back -- and I can't go back to not having those pegs. With my heel locked, so is my knees - and I can lay my heel on top of them as well so I have a variety of foot positions. They completely take the pressure off my tailbone.

Yeah, I scrapped 'em a couple of times, but replacements will only cost my $20. I can live with that.

Functional...work well...keep you comfy...what more do you need? I really liked how they looked and how they retracted.

I have pegs on my highway bars and while cruising I place me heels on top of the pegs and get the same results. The only thing lacking is a magazine holder since I'm in a more reclined position while using the pegs.

My V2K will be the last bike in my garage, every thing else would go first! I like my Suzuki M50 for it's decent power and handling, but I love the 2000!

If it ever comes down to having one bike, V2K's a keeper. Bought my '04 as a leftover, and paid less than an ordinary bike would cost *used*. Nothing ordinary about the big twin. Riding with other bikes just doesn't seem fair to them, they seem so... small. I try to remain humble, though...
