This is a poll to find out which motorcycle you would buy and why. The poll is only targeted at 2 motorcycles which are the V2K and Nomad. We understand that there are different needs/uses for these two bikes so feel free to add that to your response. With that being said...which one would you buy and why?
Thanks! |

No contest, Nomad all the way
Great looking Hardbags close the deal everytime for me. OEM crash bars front and back put the Nomad further out in front. And that classy windshield and lower mounts just can't be matched for an OEM cost/accessory package. Now the V2K does some serious catchup with all those gawdy power numbers, but until they offer a V2K NOMAD -there's no contest here ![]()

V2k Baby.
for me, the nomad is purpose built as a two up long haul cruiser. I'm a solo rider 99% of the time. I'm also a raw power freak and the V feeds that hunger. Also, the Nomad is so close to what I have currently in the 1500 that it'd almost be the same bike (motor wise) The extra fuel capacity and ease of cruising the superslab at 85 mph makes the V the choice for me.

The Nad is a great bike and I had put over 30,000 miles on mine. It was purchased primarily for 2-up riding and cruising. Since its purchase the lady has decided she is bored with just being the passenger and started riding her own again. She opted for her own saddlebags for all her "essentials" and to stop my constant complaining of "her" hogging the available storage space.
I have since decided I didn't need all the storage space of a 747 so it was off for a new, larger, and more powerful ride that still hauls all the stuff I need and want. The price was right, the bike was right, and its now a V2K called Missy (Mistress of my wallet). ![]()

For us it would be the Nomad if the choice were only between these 2 bikes. It better suits our style of riding. Course, with the Venture, we have all the bells and whistles, so the Nomad would even be a lesser bike to us!!

Cary,
I know I'm biased but ya gotta go with the Nomad. But seriously, It really depends on your primary use of the bike. If you want or need to take stuff with you anywhere you go, the Nomad is the ONLY choice. You can't beat lockable hard bags. Seeing as how you *are* going to take at least *one* long trip next year, Good luck making a choice. Scotty (The Heavily Nomad Biased) Luv

I've always viewed those hardbags as a necessity to make the bike useful daily transportation for all of lifes needs. It locks up stuff quick and easy and can haul a boat load of stuff home from the market. I realize the V2K LT comes close to doing the same job, but it ain't quite there yet for me. And I suspect my view of the Nomad has much to do with the fact that I always intended to make my bike my PRIMARY means of year round transportation. Folks who don't use a bike that way -might be more concerned with power or classic looks. My previous "bass boat weekend toy" comment was not meant to disrespect other riders -just an observation of how we make different choices on what a bike "needs" to have.

Resistance is futile Cary. Join the V2K Army, you know you wanna.
IMHO, if I wear you Cary, I'd pick the V2K. Now I am (only) 6'2" but it seems as if the V2K was bullt for me. It is laid out so well, the bar position and floorboard placement couldn't be more perfect. And the power, man oh man, it has a lot of power. Even compared to my old doped-up Mean Streak. She'll just cruise all day long, at any speed, up any hill, with any load, never complain, and always ask for more. Let us know when you've joined the Gang.

I appreciate all of your responses so far!
I'm not offended by anyone's comments as they are all inside observations and are what I am looking for. All of us know the agony of trying to decide what you want to buy when you are looking so this should be helpful to anyone who is currently looking to buy one of these awesome motorcycles. Keep up the good work and thanks to those who have offered their input. |

Well, you can lead a V2K to hard bags, but you can't lead a Nomad to 2K.
Besides, a Nomad still doesn't have a Topcase. So what's the big deal? By the way, Lobocop, what's the story of that topcase you have there? Last edited by Jambolaya : 10-23-2006 at 10:25 AM. |

Just wondering if you've ever rode both or either of the two bikes, 2WF?
It would be interesting to hear YOUR take...

My take on my 1500 is that I really do love this bike and have no negative comments to make about it. It does all that I ask of it and then some. Now...the V2K is another awesome experience I enjoyed this summer while at Red Lodge. Kawi ( Jim-owner of Beartooth Kawasaki) had the V2K that spok bought there for demo rides so I was able to test it out some. I do remember it riding solid as a rock and stable like it was on rails...AND...the power was "UNREAL"!!!!!!!! ![]() |
