I wish that drivers would see motorcycles as people, not just a smaller vehicle that can be taken advantage of. I mean seriously, is it worth it to push yourself into a lane that is all ready occupied by a motorcycle if it means you could KILL someone? Perhaps someone who has a family that depends on them to survive?
It is discouraging when you see the look of unconcern on many drivers faces as they disregard us. When I drive my car I am very courteous to other drivers and I ALWAYS give motorcycles plently of room. I know they appreciate it, because when I am riding my bike I am grateful for that same courtesy!
awesome! so I could hit it one day I like highway 152.. and rides down to monterey..Originally Posted by RichLockyer

Hollister is just south of Gilroy, about 45 miles south of San Jose. There are some awesome roads running south of Hollister, totally out in the middle of nowhere, nice twisties.
Hollister is the reputed "home of the outlaw biker" based on a motorcycle race that got out of hand back in 1947. They made the movie "The Wild Ones" based on that. The first weekend of July each year we host a rally with upwards of 100,000 bikes in attendance. Like a metal mardi gras, my favorite weekend of the year! Last year the city tried to cancel it, but now they have a committee working on organizing it better.
Objects in your mirror may be closer then they appear...
yeah yeah I remember hearing about that in the paper and how cops where extremely ticket happy... (and there where a bunch of squids provoking) kinda like the laguna seca weekend.
RichLockyer: you have to ride 152! it has very nice scenery and if you are into speed there are some nice banking 180 degree turns 1 of them recently repaved just amazing to ride!
also a road that I suggest is carmel valley road it is very nice and scenic. this road has some long sweeping turns but then also down hill decreasing radius turns not too technical but definately challenging, and even if you go down there on a hot day you will be cool since it is so close to the ocean... and you can always hit 1 from there! the view from 1 is just breath taking but there is usually quite a bit of wind...
mmm track days....
Commuter: I'm relieved to read that you were able to avoid not one, but two potential accidents--I wasn't as fortunate recently. Keep your skills sharp and keep up your good habits!
Yeah me too. I'm glad you didn't get splattered all over the roadway.Originally Posted by Tod
