yeah, i have found that most of the problems on a Jeep are very doable. i also forget that you don't live in the rust belt so working under a vehicle for you is much more pleasant. plus, the parts are usally a dime a dozen, seeing as AMC just used whatever was cheap and easy to find. there's a little bit of everything in a CJ

He's trying to tell you that they are as cheap as a chevy, and almost as dependable as a Ford.

I saw a hybrid Exploder the other day.
Given Ford's track record with electicals and fire, I would not be overly excited about it.

i've never heard of Ford having any more problems than any other makers when it comes to fire. actually, i a buddy of mine just lost his 05 (i think) Chevy 1500 due to an electrical fire. i forget what exaclty caused it, but he found out that it is actually fairly common. now he's driving around a $500 F150 and it hasn't let him down yet

I don't know if that 1500 was a 4 or 2 wheel drive but the model name for the 4 is a k1500 and the model name for the 2 wheel drive is a c1500. Depending weather you're from the north or the south of the country will mandate how you spell the word clunker, or klunker. Ya-All.

They've had quite a number of recalls on various models... ignition switches, cruise control, door locks, etc... It got to the point that they began installing fire supression systems in the Crown Vics for the PD.
Wife lost her Mercury Tracer to fire.

the big deal with the Crown Vics was with the fuel tanks exploding due to tight tollerances and rear end collisions. Sounds like a bigger 4 door version of the Pinto.

Getting back to original theme of the thread...

How did the carrier work out? I agree with Rich about concerns of leverage on those two attachment points plus the potential flex in the 2" square tubing with that much overhang.

Inquiring minds want to know!

Mods... Whatever you do, don't lock this thread.
For some reason it seems like 100% of the spam-bots post here.
