Great, GREAT shots everyone... to me, this is what riding is all about - getting to the most beautiful places on earth... and having a blast getting there
![]() 2WheelFun, those are some AWESOME shots, incredible. Spok, you got the hang of it dude ![]() In fact I remind everyone of the only rule of this game: no sign, no count ![]() I should be hitting another one tomorrow (where my parents live) and since y'all are showboating I'll take a couple of scenic shots too ![]() Keep 'em coming!!! BTW can ANYONE tell me (I've asked this question thousands of times, and no-one's ever resolved the issue for me) why the hell Image Shack resizes my pictures automatically? On my pc, they're almost full-screen (6 megapixel shots) and when I upload them onto image shack (and hence attach them here) they are like half the size

Thanks stefano!
I believe all photo hosting sites allow images up to a certain size. If the photos are too big they will be automatically resized. Photobucket allows you to set a pre-determined size before you upload so the pics will be that size when viewed. Check the "Preferences" in your account and see if there is an option to upload the pics at a higher size. |

When I post a photo on my server, I reduce it on purpose. I don't want to be sending out a 3MP photo on a forum - it would be GIANT. Aside from the load time, anything over 800x600 or so requires some people to scroll around to see the whole thing. Besides, it loads faster for dial-up users if I can keep the file size down around 300k or less. |

Thanks guys, it makes sense now. All my photos are in the 2,2 MB range full-size so that would make sense that they get smaller on image shack if the size-limit is 1,5.
I originally used photobucket but I stopped using it because I found it rubbish... for some reason that I don't remember In any case now that I know why it happens I can live with it ![]() Thanks again guys... and keep those shots coming!

It was freezing cold (early Oct in the Dolomites) and I had only medium weight gloves with me. On the way up to this pass, it got cold enough to where snow was mixed in with the rain. There I was. feeling my hands go slowly numb , when I remembered what that extra rocker switch on the handlebar was for. Heated grips! SWEEEEETTT!!!!!!!When we stopped at the pass, I asked our Edelweiss guide where the BMW engineers were headquartered. He said Berlin, so I asked him which direction Berlin was. Then, I got on my knees and offered my earnest supplication to whomever it was that had decided to put heated grips on BMW motorcycles. That photo caught me kneeling in mid-kowtow. |

I think there should be a grandfather clause for those of us that just started the game.Sooo.... Here's the only two from my trip that have signs in them. Later tonight I'll see if one of the guys that was also on the trip has some signage. The one taken in town, the road up to the Grossglocknerhof was closed to two wheeled traffic that day (ice in the tunnel ), therefore instead of riding to the top we had lunch in the village instead. Evidence of my attempt!![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've got trips planned for this summer that are going to take me over some passes and I'd hate for this thread to disappear before that.

For you folks out there Montana way, there was a recent article in a bike rag, something about ten passes over 10,000ft in three days. Might be an interesting goal.
Wish I could remember which magazine it was... |

Cary, those goat shops are priceless dude
![]() Bill, I meant to get back to you but temporarily forgot... that's great that you came to Italy to do some riding!!! What did you think of our landscape and... more importantly... our twisties? The mountains you took those shots of look like the Dolomites in the Veneto region... could be Cortina D'Ampezzo or thereabouts... am I right? And yeah I guess we can accept shots without the signs, if they're really worth it ![]() In fact, I'm going to break my own rule and post a few up now! In my defence, I had actually intended to hit a pass, but it was closed... AGAIN! Looks like I'm going to have to wait for a couple more months to hit that one So I'll post a couple up anyway. This is Valcamonica, one of the endless valleys here in the Alps. If you follow that valley, you get to my parents' house. Pity it wasn't such a clear day (sunny, but hazy), but I'm going to go back to that spot on a clear day and get the definitive shot ![]() ![]() And these are a couple of the shots of the twisties right outside my grandfather's house ![]() ![]() ![]()
