You, sir, have a good memory

I welcome some company, I've been doing my damndest to convince 2 of my best friends to get a bike but one is s.hit broke and the other one has been swamped with work the last couple of months...

But it does get lonely out there sometimes... riding is a thrill, yes, but when you're by yourself you have no-one to share it with. Also, I really want to start doing trackdays and go to a riding school, but again, I think if you're by yourself it takes away from the fun.

Yes... I'm a loser, I have no friends

I guess we'll have to fly to Italy to visit. I have one good friend, and she doesn't ride, either.

I'd say you have a whole bunch of friends, we're just a flight away. Bill and I may have to have little competition to see who takes you up on your generous offer first!

Jodie and I will definitely be coming to ride in your country, but just not this year, starting to build a new house. Next year, maybe.

Those are the types of things that just put a fat smile on my face

I wanted to write this before, then I forgot, but if ANY of you are planning on coming to Italy, you have an obligation to touch base with me

Certainly! I'm kind of planning a most graduation victory tour over the summer of 2008. Do the Dolomites again, possibly some more of mainland Italy before I hang out with my Navy buddy in Sicily. Followed by a couple weeks at my buddy's beach house in Greece, then Thailand for some custom made suits before joining the business world. Last stop Japan to see my Mom and my friends before coming back to Seattle.

Regards your question, Stefano, I am attempting a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Competition?! Forget that, lets impose upon Stefano together! My trip won't be until summer of 2008 anyway.

Ha ha bring it on, the more the merrier

I managed to hit 2 passes this weekend

First one: Passo dell'Aprica. I'm real p.issed because this is the first Italian pass I come across without the characteristic brown sign. But they've put a fancy little arch over it. It's another low pass, about 3800 feet:

Second one: Passo del Tonale. My parents live less than 6 miles from here. In feet it's about 6000:

And here's a scenic shot of the second one BTW I went skiing on the slope you can see in the right-hand side of the photo that same morning

No doubt!

To tell you the truth though, I only went skiing to please my parents... I would much rather have been on the black stuff carving corners! When we drove up to the pass we got passed by about 20 bikes and I was in the back cussing, I so wanted to be out there as well!!!

Cary, the name of the mountain range is "Adamello". It is basically smack in the middle of the Alps, and just west of the more famous (and much larger) Dolomites range. There are not that many slopes there compared to other places (I think about 100 miles of slopes) but I've been going there since I was a toddler and I love it

And now that I have my bike, the road to get there from my parents' house is wild When I was a teen and I had my 50cc scooter (the same one I use to go to work now!) I'd time myself on that road... I'm actually curious to time myself now and see how many minutes I can shave off

I don't know Stefano, you may not want to know. Same for me and golf, I used to play 36 holes every day all summer as a kid, and would hit low 80s consistently, and broke 80 the odd time. I would be very lucky to hit low 90s now!

So you never know, it may have only been a 50cc scooter but I bet you used to rail that thing around the corners!

You have a valid argument there Brent but the built-in chronometer on the 636 is just SO HARD TO RESIST

Besides, you may be right that in the corners there may not be much difference... but with my fiddy my top speed on that road (uphill) was 45 m/h... the other day riding 2-up I hit 100 with the 636... and I was riding conservative

I already timed myself on another stretch of road - from my parents' town to the next one down the road (about 9 miles). Best time in a cage: 14 minutes. Best time (to date) on the 636... 11 minutes 7 seconds

I know, I should grow up. That will come, I'm sure of it.

You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever!
