I really like that screen on your bike. Fully dressed is the best look for your bike in my humble opinion.

Wow thanks for the compliments. I kinda like the fly screen too, especially from the die. Maybe I'll not waste the money on a Corbin Trim tab ($1399 USD), and just keep the thing I got, ($0 + little effort).

Hey, first time posting here ...
This is my first season riding as well. Had a minor accident back in April on a EX500 while learning to ride and consequently lost my confidence. Decided on a 250 as the next bike to re-establish my lost confidence. Purchased a 2000 Kawasaki EX250 Ninja with 96 miles on the odometer - $1800 cash - end of July. Here is my bike the day I bought it:

Was in a (relatively) high speed accident 2 weeks ago ... my baby's now in the shop and I'm awaiting an estimate on what it's going to cost. Maybe someone's telling me I'm not cut out to ride?

Maybe I'll post more on the accident in a separate thread (have some pics of that as well). Anyway, seems like this place could be a valuable resource. Don't let my post count fool you, though. I'm more often reading, and less often writing!

Was scheduled (all paid up) to take the course at the end of August. Ended up having my accident 3 days beforehand. My physical injuries put the rest of my body under the weather and I ended up getting the flu on the Friday that the course began. I went to the 3 hour portion (6 PM - 9 PM) but couldn't attend the Saturday or Sunday portions ... having a sprained foot, road rash blaring from all ends of my body and influenza swirling inside my head ... I was in no shape to ride or absorb the teachings in the classroom. :\

Looks like I won't be taking the course this season ... maybe not even next? My main goal in taking the course was to get the certificate at the end, then get my license. So, I'll probably just have to be content with taking the riding test in the back lot of the DMV.

BAD CALL!!!! Take the course, even if it means you take it after you have your liscense. Work it in as soon as you can, you may be able to avoid more of the problem that kept you out in the first place. You learn SOOOOOOOO much there.

+10,000

Many people take the course to avoid the DMV test (which is easily passable on a 250 and nearly impossible on a litre cruiser), many people take the course to save a few bucks on insurance, and a few people take the course to become a safer rider.

Nearly all come out feeling that they WILL be a safer rider for having taken the course. You've already had two serious accidents. Whether they were your fault or not, that's two more than many here have had, and one more than the vast majority of us have had.

At the very least, spend the $28 and buy the book that SHOULD be included with the MSF class, "Guide to Motorcycling Excellence".
I got a LOT more out of that book than I did the classroom.

It's available from http://www.msf-usa.org/

i'm gonna have to agree with the other guys here and say that it would be a good idea to sign up for it, even if it is after you get your license. knowledge is always a good thing. take it slow, and keep the shiny side up from now on.
