Thanks for the web site I will check it out presently. Having the title is a fine idea, if I lived in the US or Europe. However I don't. Beijing/Chinese bike laws are kind of funny, I won't go into it here. I can get the VIN number but I want to check to see if a bike had been stolen from the US, Japan, Phillipines etc. That's why I am looking for web sites that will list stolen bikes or somewhere I can plug in the VIN and see if it comes up as stolen.

If the bike you were looking at was stolen from Europe or the US or some other country what would the ramifications actually be in China?
If you bought it, are you likely to be prosecuted if it turned up as being stolen from a different continent 6 months down the line? Is there any specific offences under Chinese law, and do they actually have a national ownership certificate like the 'title' in the US, or the V5 in Britain that shows you are the registered keeper (although not necessarilly the legal owner) of the bike? |

No real registration unless you have a legal bike in the city, which no one does, well I do, and so do a lot of old men who ride 125's as well as folks with lots of money who can ride harley's legally imported. But I am off topic. Ultimately no ramifications. But I am helping a firned of mine sell bikes, and as an ethical thing I wouldn't want to sell a stolen ride.

China is cool. There are annoyances here and there and the motorcycle laws are a pain in the ***, if you are in the city. But no one rides bikes over 250cc's in the city and outside the cops don't care. Sport bikes are getting more popular, as are Harley's but the real charming bike of China is the Chang Jiang. 750 boxer engine, side car bike. Slow but loads of tourque. The standard issue is just that, standard. Black everything, laced wheels, drum brakes and a drive shaft in place of a chain but there are lots of cats that mod their bikes in interesting ways. Do a web search and you can see someof what I am talking about.
