41. Pulling out the swingarm stand, and forgetting to put the sidestand down first.
I wish I had a video camera on me to see what that looks like.

I've been riding almost 40 years and have probably done 1/2 of the list.
Back in the '70s was with a bunch of friends in Austin when a biker on a chopper pulled out of a club and cut us off (we were in a car) we stayed a little back from him because he seemed rather unsteady. We watched as he pulled up to a red light and stopped. Never put his foot down, and he and the bike went over on the right side. He never took his hands of the grips. We jumped out and ran up to see if he was OK. He was just VERY drunk. We got him and the bike up and tried to talk him into parking it, but he got back on a road off. Never saw him again - hope he made it home. It was funny though.

66. Allow friend to ride bike that has either no riding experience, or only tiny dirtbike riding experience (they will wheelie out of control, fly straight at the nearest object, or drop it attempting to stop suddenly-happened to my bike twice)
did that to my friends dirtbike when i was 14, right into a fence |

Here's a good one that happened today.
1) park bike on right side of street, in the direction of traffic in prep for ride 2) put on helmet, gloves 3) swing leg over and use thigh to pull bike off kickstand, as you've done a thousand times before 4) fail to take into account the crown of the asphault roadway and apply too much force 5) ask yourself why you're such and idiot as you and your bike fall into the grass 6) Pick up bike. 7) Inspect for damage 8 ) find none 9) Laugh at self and file away as life lesson #1239082347092834 Last edited by 78_KZ750_Cafe : 08-30-2007 at 11:05 PM. |

Blowing out of a parking lot, on the way to get gas (which we KNOW is low), pulling a nice, FAST, 90 degree right hand turn into traffic....and THEN the bike lets you know that GETTING gas, is not the problem, HAVING ANY is!!!! Fun stall, fortunately the bike wasn't even scratched, having been protected from the pavement by my fat body underneath!!! Oh, and lying there, IN traffic, and seeing PART of an SUV grill FILLING the one mirror you can still focus on, is an added attraction! All your friends whizzing by blowing their horns (not stopping to help, Heavens no!) helps too!

I've done it twice.
Once I climbed on, raised the kick stand and held Pearl up between my thighs. Focus on pack of cuties on bench. Let go of bars to adjust chin strap, gravity takes over....F@CK! Loving the full face helmet that day....... The other... Burger King parking lot...sloped. Low speed U turn a la MSF class, however the pitch of the slope makes Pearl lean too far over before my foot reaches the ground. F@CK! Notice Mom and kids watching. I went and ate at KFC..... |

Nice easy coast to stop at red light.
Not looking down as I planted my feet properly per MSF. Unaware (duh?) of plastic shopping bag directly under right foot. Really beautiful lady jumps out of SUV behind me to offer to help. Male ego prevents such interaction. Back hurt for 2 weeks from macho strength maneuver picking up bike.

50. Backing your bike down a plank (a wet, muddy ramp, actually), by yourself, from the bed of a pickup truck. Works great as long as you remember that once you start moving stopping for any correction is out of the question. Get two people to stand on each side of you and the bike.

When I was young, dumb and full of ***, going home from a party with a mate on the back stopped at a intersection because I thought I saw a car coming down the road and down we went A$$ over T!t. I was laying half on the road and half on the footpath with bike still between my legs. We laiod there and laughed for a bit before continuing home.

1. Bringing brand new bike home from dealership on shiny new tires and giving it a little too much gas around a rotary.
2 Entering a rotary at a normally "impressive" speed (for a bike) only to see a patch of oil right in front of you as you lean into the turn. Thank God there was no traffic.BTW I HATE rotaries!!!!!

The only time for me was number 95 during the MSF course in OCC in Costa Mesa on their bike. Fortunately, I have not practiced anymore drops since then.
