Girl riding with us just got her new VTX1300, pulls up to the gas pump while looking at the pump forgets to put her feet down. We all ran over to help her pick up her brand new VTX with brand new scratchs on it.

Came off a week of steroids for two herniated discs. Went in the garage to move my brand new Vulcan 500 up a few feet so I could work on my restore project (75 G3SSE). Not sure what happened but the bike strated to go down and I knew all I had to do was lean to the right and everything would have been okay but, I had no adreline so i fell on the little bike with the big bike on time of me. Sandwiched between to Kawasakis covered in gas leaking from the 500. I could not, for the life of me, get out from under the 500. Luckily the mailman came along and got the bike up and off of me. No scratches or dents on the 500 however, I did have to replace the left mirror. All in all it could have been much worse.
Lesson learned. Never take steroids again and If I absolutely have to make sure the Doc weans me off so the body has time to start making its own adreline again. That was the worse week of my life. |

I guess I should add mine.
Bring home new used bike, show wifey and mention that you notice frayed clutch cable needs replaced, pull in clutch, snap weak cable, sending running bike into grass...DOH!!! Luckily cop crash bars work great. Greg58

Absolutely a tremendous read! Thanks for the laughs. Done several of those and not as a newbie rider either. Time and miles seem to catch up with you.
Gotta go now and practice pickin up the bike that is on its side.

I've definately had close calls on many items on the list.
I don't know where it fits but, pulling off into a side road to turn around on very busy rural road and find out the side road is DEEP NEW Gravel...going slow, thankfully, and bury the front wheel bout 6" deep in the gravel...fell over like Artie Johnson on his trike - Laugh In TV mode. Oh, and the center stand on a GoldWing got me good one time!!

129. store bike for winer in good friend's garage for free. Park in space between his two vehicles. Fail to realize that one is a dodge 3500 cummins, and he doesn't feel like making the three point turn to get into his space because "there must be enough room." "lightly" nudges your saddlebag, and creases his work car door with your handlebar. Feels really bad
130. Install crash bar and highway pegs in case you store bike at friends garage again. Left foot does one thing (puts up highway peg) but not another thing (put down kickstand) and bike now rests on other side from the one that hit the car. . . |

I'm sure someone has mentioned not putting down the side stand, but who has done that while taking the MSF course?
That would be me. And, of course, the obligatory drop in the home driveway.

Get wasted...teach your wasted friend how to do drag starts on a V-Max...with him momentarily on the back...should have thought about that extra 150lbs on the back before launching.
I couldn't run fast enough to keep up! I seem to remember picking up the bike first, then the friend. That was 1986. And then...
