I just found this and thought some of you who bought a new Kawasaki might be interested.

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. announced the launch of the new Kawasaki owners club, effective immediately, which replaces the Good Times™ Owners Club (GTOC) and enhances member benefits to make Kawasaki motorcycle ownership even more enjoyable.

The new Riders of Kawasaki (ROK) owners club expands the benefits available to owners of street-legal Kawasaki motorcycles, including Vulcan® cruisers, Ninja® sportbikes and dual-purposes motorcycles such as the adventure-oriented KLR650. Member benefits include six issues of the new ROK magazine, special promotional packages and VIP hospitality at select national events, such as AMA Superbike races, and a membership kit.

ROK also offers a premium membership package that includes a 24-hour roadside assistance program with coverage extending from the continental United States to Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

To help spread the word about ROK, Kawasaki is giving a free one-year membership, including the roadside assistance package, to those who purchase a new 2005 Kawasaki street bike. Plus, those who have a current GTOC membership will automatically become a ROK member with full premium package benefits. At the end of the one-year complimentary membership, however, those who wish to renew their membership must contact ROK to make arrangements to pay the annual fees for either the basic or premium package benefits.

Tom Orbe, vice president of sales and marketing at Kawasaki, said ROK was created to enhance the Kawasaki ownership experience while introducing a growing market of new riders to motorcycling.

"ROK is our way of showing appreciation to our loyal customers," said Orbe. "It's also a great way to introduce new buyers to an exciting lifestyle."

An additional ROK benefit for new riders is that, upon completion of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course or Keith Code's California Superbike School, Kawasaki will give new members a $50 gift certificate redeemable toward parts, accessories, apparel and service at any Kawasaki dealership.

Orbe added that while many owners clubs often attract older riders with many years of experience, ROK is for all ages and riding styles.

"Some clubs tend to focus a little more on one aspect of riding, such as touring, whereas ROK embraces every style of Kawasaki street bike," he said. "Whether you're into Ninja sportbikes, naked bikes or adventure-touring on a KLR650, it helps to provide more opportunities to ride and meet other people who enjoy doing the same things."

something to look in to. when i had the Magna, i belonged to HRCA, which was very similar. they offered roadside assistance, magazines, discounts, and kept you up to date on events.

i just called the toll free number and they said u have to buy the bike after Jan. 3rd

i guess i bought mine 2 months too early. lol, it almost seemed to good to be true.

I've belonged to GTOC ever since purchasing my Ninja 500R in 2001, and the ROK 'premium' benefits seem to match what GTOC has always offered. GTOC is a good deal, with towing offered, even if you don't own a Kawasaki! One thing I've always looked forward to were the free tickets to the IMC. Looks like ROK is scaling back on that though, offering discounted tickets instead this year. The special parking and easier access to demo rides at events are worthwhile, too. I'll be renewing.

they have the prices listed on the kawi website. there are two levels i believe, but i don't recall how much. i want to say one was $24.95 / yr and the other was $39.95 / yr. something like that !

JTpaintball70, it's been almost a year since I last renewed (I usually do it at the show), so I don't remember exactly, but I believe it was in the neighborhood of $35.00. When I renew at the show this month, I'll find out what the going rate is and repost. I'll also let you know what kind of discount members get at the show.

I went to the IMC in New York over the weekend, and yes, the annual membership fee has jumped from $35 to $39.95 (if you opt for the towing coverage). However, GTOC members who renew with ROK will be covered for 18 months instead of 12 at their first renewal. At the show, sharply discounted tickets were made available to members - $5 vs. the regular $15 fee. And, you could buy multiple tickets at the discounted price. Dealerships, btw, are going to be strongly encouraged to sponsor ROK chapters, and there will be incentives from Kawasaki for doing so.

I was told that if you got your motorcycle insurance through GEICO they would pay for your first year of ROK. I got GEICO insurance in May, and have not heard another word about it. I e-mailed ROK, but never got a reply.

Actually, they promised a free year's membership if you got a quote from them.....you don't have to buy their insurance. I got a quote, didn't buy, but got an email saying that they sent the info to ROK for my free year....they said it might take 30 days to get the info from ROK...
