Drop the "g" and call me bob.
It is easier to remember it when you realize that even if u spell it backwards, it is still bob. ![]()

Scott here. Bigsaint is the user name I use on most forums. I'm a Catholic Priest. J/K, at one time we had two St. Bernards. Both have since passed and we now have a 11 month puppy Saint that we rescued in August. You can call him Benny

Hi Julie,
I'm a new member to your forum. My real name is Herschel but I have been call Herkey all my life(so far). I'm a young 71 and ride as often as I can. We have a group of retired riders (I'm not the oldest) that make some really good rides. I have a 99 1500 drifter that started to worry me with lots of engine noise. I am glad to hear I'm not the only Kawasaki rider with a noisy engine. My pipes drown out most of the noise. I rode a Gold Wing for years -- wasn't that exciting. I've made over 12,000 miles this year, encluding Strudis in Aug. Since I live in South Louisiana, this was a really long trip. |

Herkey - You mention a "noisy" motor. Yes, the 1500 has its quirky noises, but do not take the cam adjuster noise lightly. It is an easy fix, and one you want to do before the chain wears a hole through the spark plug tubes. More often than not you need to install can tensioner extenders by about the 20K mile mark. The chains stretch farther than mama Kaw planned for. Easy fix.

The "real world" calls you Mathew? Ha ha ha ha. I thought you were Matt.
Hey - I like the fairing. You got it installed already? Some of us just drink during the winter (kidding). KC

I posted a message earlier about engine (chain) noise on my 99 1500 drifter. I had a reply from Kellci telling me it is an easy fix. I got on the phone to different shops (our dealer's machanic has never been in a 1500 engine) and have got pricess from $350 to $1200. The most "convensing Shop" said $750.
What do I do?? |

First you can take a deep breath, with a sigh of relief. $15.00 for the cam chain tensioner extenders (total), and about 1 hours work. Always go here
Gadget's Fixit Page For Kawasaki Nomad & Classic Modification Maintenance & Repair when you have a Vulcan question, and go here Cam Chain Tensioner Extenders specifically for cam chain tensioner extender information. The motor does NOT need to be opened! Ever wonder what was inside that little black can looking thing, bolt on top, one on each side, towards the rear of each cylinder? Cam chain tensioner! Easier for me to talk at kelly@cosmos-enterprises.com
