By the way Herkey - I have (my wife has) a '00 Drifter 800. Like your bike, it has limited chrome, with most items blacked out from Kaw. I have further blacked out several items. You have the best year 1500!

Matt..... Matthew..... Hey You..... what ever works!! Oh, yes winter is a great time to tinker with the bike and have a drink while doing it!! Fairings on.... Working on Crank Breather now.... maybe some under tank, bags & floorboards accent lights (???).
Been thinking about the cam chain tensioner extenders..... have you had your shop make any up yet???? If you do (Hint!! Hint!!) make double, I've been thinking of doing this in the next couple months. Matthew

Well then Julie, my name is Kelly, but my friends (usually) call me KC. It is nice meeting you. I ride a Vulcan Nomad customized with a Drifter front fender, and every piece of chrome you can put on a Nomad. My favorite color is chrome. West central Minnefrigginsnowda.

I started worrying about the engine noise on my 1500 (40,000miles) so I took it to the shop today. I had the machanic read the article about the cam chain extenders and had him listen to the engine. He said it didn't sound bad for a 1500 drifter but I left it for them to check it out from top to bottom -- I want it ready when riding season starts next week. We've had our week of winter this week.

Herkey - I little more info for you and the shop. The cam chain extenders are available through Kaw in Canada, but not here in the states. I do not know if a dealer can get them, or if they will even install them if you supply them. DO NOT let them talk you into splitting the motor and installing new cam chains! This will cost you huge dollars! Yes this solves the problem, but only until the new chains are broke in (stretched) at about 20K+ miles. If you have 40K on your 1500, I promise you that the right side extender (rear cylinder) is fully extended. This happens to be the easy one of the two to check. Have them check it according to the instructions. Warning: Most dealers that I have dealt are not competent to change a tire correctly, so maybe they will allow you to watch? They can NOT just pull it out, look at it, and put it back in. They need to reset the pushrod before installing it, then loosen the set (locking) screw, to release it! I swear man, this is a simple process and they shouldn't charge you more than an hour labor. Don't get the run around! It is your cam chain tensioner. You will not believe how much quieter your motor will be after installing the extenders. - KC

well guys, i go by Skully, allways have, allways will, how do you remember Bob from Bob and Sue from Sue, from one post to the next. thats why i go by my nick name from one forum to the next. also my custom chopper is painted in a priate theme along with the Lic tag of SKULLY, so when people see the tag they place the name with differant forums that i am on. why else do people post nick names to their forums if they didn't want to be known by that name? what is the differance between learning a nick name or a given name? just my 2 cents

The name's Adam, not Al/Alan as people often assume on here due to my tag. It's actually my first two initials...Adam Lee.
