Default Police: Motorcyclist flipped bird, popped wheelie, crashed

In todays Squid Alert:

COPIAGUE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man who flipped his finger at a police cruiser and then popped a wheelie on his motorcycle is recovering from injuries after crashing.
Suffolk County Police said Frank Patti, 26, of West Islip, rode by the police car at a service station in Copiague at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say Patti made an obscene gesture to two officers in the car, popped a wheelie and then sped away.

Police gave chase.

When the motorcycle turned into a parking lot it crashed into a police car that had joined the chase.

Police said Patti was treated for minor injuries at Southside Hospital. He's charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.

He was being held for arraignment Monday. Police did not know if he had an attorney.

I've done both, but not at the same time.

I'm glad he crashed. Too bad only minor injuries means this jerk will be on the bike again.

I wouldn't wish a crash on any motorcyclist regardless of the reason. Karma is a *****.

Thats hilarious! I hope they kicked the crap out of him afterward too.

I've seen the squiddly cartoon pic of a guy on a sport bike riding past the police flipping them off...in fact, it was on one of the recently banned members' MySpace page. Maybe it was him acting it out.

Doubtful!!

1) I think they have laws against verbal abuse of a police officer. It stands to reason that a prosecutor or judge may interpret the law to cover non-verbal hand signals that might be viewed by a peace officer as a potential threat against the officer.
2) Popping a wheelie - public endangerment, maybe
3) Evading police officers, duh - jail time for sure
4) haha-lol ramming a police cruiser - what's it called "using a motorized vehicle as a deadly weapon".

Yeah, it will be awhile before he rides again. I would be surprised if in a search of the motorcycle, they find an ounce of pot.

So popping a wheelie and giving up a finger makes him a bad guy right? He deserves what he got AND to be beaten afterwards?

tough crowd, at least in here.

Man, i barely paid attention to it but last week CBS Early Show had a story and video about police using excesive force. In one video, a police cruiser driver is clearly shown from its' on-board patrol car's camera ramming a fleeing motorycle (as it was turning into a lot, I think).

Now, I really want to find the video.

There's a fair share of cowboys wearing blue these days. No excuse to ram a motorcycle with a car unless the suspect broke a very serious law. I'd make it very miserable for any cop that pulled that crap on me or mine.

Flipping the bird at a police officer that it trying to protect your arse makes him a bad guy. Running from the police and putting many lives in danger including himself and the police officers makes him deserve what he got and a beating afterwards. It sounds petty but you must remember that when theres a police chase, everyone on the road is at danger for losing their lives. Just imagine that tard on the bike goes past a guy trying to get away from the cops, he loses it, and runs into your van or someone elses and there are children in it and they get hurt all because this guy thought he was some showoff and he doesnt deserve a beating? I think a beating isnt enough personally but Ill settle for that.
