Default Finally got signed up for MSF

So I got signed up for the MSF course finally. Now I have to wait until July 19th to actually take it. I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can get on a standby list for one of the earlier classes as I really want to take this! Hopefully I will be able to get in there sooner.

Good stuff. I had a blast taking my course and it's amazing how much you learn.

Our classes are full through the end of June. It's amazing how popular the class is. But when you take it, you'll find out why. It's a very good class. You're going to learn a lot and have fun while you're doing it. Good luck with getting in sooner!

Good move mate! Yeah, it's kinda frustrating trying to sign up in the spring cuz most everybody is already full. Hang in there though, it's worth it!

I called them and the earliest I could get in as an alternate is the last weekend in June. I am the second altername, and she said all of the classes before then have about 4-5 on the waiting list already. Hopefully it will work out to take it in June, but if not, oh well. I will still be taking it and I am sure I will have fun.

In Maryland, there is no "standby". You can show up at the first class time, and about 5-10 minutes into the class, if everyone hasn't shown, you're in as long as you can pay on the spot. In my class, there were 2 no-shows and 3 people waiting for an opening. One of the no-shows tried to talk her way into the class 30 minutes late and the school director politely told her "no way!" and had the instructor continue.

Around here, there aren't any walk-ons, but if you're more than 15 minutes late, they send you home, you have have to sign up all over again to retake the course and you don't get your money back. They take tardiness as seriously as the instruction. The classes cover too much in such a short time to miss that much. Besides, they don't want you riding a motorcycle if you're in the habit of running late.

Just curious, do most states count the training course towards your motorcycle endorsement? Here they say that if I pass the course it will count towards the skills test for my endorsement. Then all I have to do is complete the state's written exam. Was just curious if there are other states that do the same?

Yup - in New Jersey the MSF class will waive the road test, you just gotta pass the written.

In Maryland, passing the MSF waives both the written and skills test. Take your certificate to the MVA, pay your money, come home with an M endorsement on a shiney new license.

Really, thats pretty sweet. Out here you need to have your permit to take the MSF class and you have to take the written to get your permit in the first place.

That's the way it is in Connecticut. The course includes the skills test, then you go immediately that afternoon to the DMV and take your eye and written tests so you can go ride...

In MN I took the state's written test after the in-classroom instruction and the skills test after the "on-the-road" (parking lot) instruction. Since I passed both, they stamped my permit and I took it to the DMV - just paid a fee and was endorsed.
