I usually ride my bike ALL THE TIME with full gear on. I don't give a f*** how kool they think they are by riding with tennis shoes and no helmets on. Im from Atlanta GA and it gets pretty hot here in summer but I remember I was told by the MSF school insturctor: "fellas you got to choose; comfort or saftey"....so think about it. My buddy crashed 2 years ago on a GSXR 1000, had helmet on but would he wear boots and more, it would be much different today. He had 5 surgeries, 6 moths in hosp, can't walk today and only 27 years old. Not that Im making fun or anything but the main man's stick is efected too. I like to ride but I love girls riding on me too

Helmets do save lives. Gear saves skin. But why do you ride? Isnt riding dangerous? Or at least more so than riding in a cage? If you want to go out in full regalia, have a great time. But dont act like you are somehow smarter than those not decked out in the latest kevlar. You would be safer in your car.

I wear my gear, or at least a helmet and jacket whenever I am riding. But I make no illusions about the amount of added risk I am taking by swinging my leg over the bike. Yes, riding with a helmet is safer but is that really the arguement when what you are doing is adding risk you didnt have to endure to start with.

Ohio is not a full helmet law state. You have to wear one when you have a learner permit and your 1st year. I always wear mine. I look at it like it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

That makes zero sense. - When I go whitewater rafting, I wear a life jacket and know how to swim in case the raft flips. - When guys work on high steel, they tie off in case they slip. - When I'm using a power saw, I wear safety glasses to keep saw dust out of my eyes and in case the wood kicks back. There's a HUGE difference between acceptable risk and inviting additional harm when something goes wrong. Riding a motorcycle is an acceptable risk for me. Not wearing gear potentially invites additional bodily harm if it goes bad. Yours is exactly the kinds of statement that the OP was referring to. Last edited by CTRider : 05-19-2008 at 08:07 PM. |
