The headlamp on my '94 Vulcan 750 will not light all the time. If it does come on, it won't stay on. It's crazy--sometimes, if it's on, it will go off and on as I squeeze/release the clutch lever, but I think that's probably coincidental.
After reading comments from other (Vulcan 750) riders with the same problem, I suspect that if I were to bypass the RLU (Reserve Lighting Unit), it might solve the problem--or at least go a long way toward isolating it. Anyone out there know how to bypass the VN 750 RLU? (I've seen, on another posting, how to bypass a Yamaha unit, and wonder if all RLUs are the same, or if each brand is proprietary.) If I do bypass it, would I have to install another switch to control the power to the headlamp? Thanks for any help with this. BTW, I love this little bike--it's more fun by far than the LT, especially in town. But, naturally, for road trips, the LT shines. |

I'd check for a loose or failing fuse. Same kind of thing happened the other day with my Honda - I pulled the fuse and popped it back in and it solved the problem. The old one was corroded and the new one wasn't properly seated. I do want to pull the fuse box and clean and align the contacts, though.
