    Default ZRX1200 v Z1000 ?

    Hi,

I'm in the UK (Bucks) and I have a ZXR 750 H2 1990 which i've had since new. I've had a few other bikes at the same time including a ZX12R which I've just sold.

I'm after a new bike because I kept using the 12R for what it was designed for, hence I just collected 6 points, so it had to go.

I'll never sell my ZXR, but I've narrowed my list to a Z1000 or a ZXR1200. Hopefully they'll slow me down without hampering my fun.

Has anyone any experience of riding both these bikes, any advice wopuld be welcome

I've never ridden either one of those bikes but also want to say welcome to the forum and am sure someone will come along and offer some good info on these bikes.

neither one of those bikes is gonna help you slow down i can tell you that much. you need an EX250 or something along those lines to slow you down.
ive ridden both and im on my second ZRX1100 so im a bit biased about my choice. the z1000 is def. a fun bike but no quite the ZRX.

If I was going to buy one I'd buy the Z1000, it just looks so much nicer IMHO.

    Bruce,

Welcome. Good to have the UK represented on the forum. Invite your friends and check in often. It's a cool place to hang out.

    Thanks for your responces.

I still can't decide, but I'm trying both back to back this weekend.

I like the Zed because its a naked sports bike so I won't loose out on handling or performance below 100mph, but I thats part of the reason for not getting another sports bike. I'm worried the Zed will bring out the hooligan in me.

Sorry Bruce, but you Brit's are born hooligans. You can't get rid of it. lol (that's the 1/2 "Brit" blood in me talkin by the way, the other 1/2 Italian is screaming and making hand gestures at the Brit 1/2 right now)
All kidding aside, it's good to have you on board. I am sorry i can't answer your question, but from driving on the roadways over there last year I would reckon you are all crazy. There I go, joking again. d**n.
So you want to buy a sportbike as your first bike and have questions?
