Default Motorcycle wreck

I'm at work and I just had a 19 year old male who was killed in a motorcycle accident. Witnesses stated the kid was speeding at approx 100mph down the parkway and lost control of the bike. He slid into a street sign which then amputated his leg. I was the first EMS personnel on scene, police were doing CPR. I intubated him and when we went to roll him onto a backboard to transport him, his internal organs fell out his side/back. We then called the arrest and made it a crime scene. The medical examiner came to claim the body. Such a shame, so young. Please everyone, ride safe.

Ugh, sounds like the double pedestrian vs MVA I had a couple of years ago, dude ran over 2 people crossing the highway at 55 mph, was not a pretty sight. What a shame.

This may seem kinda cold...But I always wonder if the rider was licensed, and if the accidents were the riders fault. I do feel bad for the family that has to get the news.

Hey Seb,

The things that you must see doing what you do.

Unfortunately most of these accidents can be avoided if people would just ride responsibly.

Let's be safe out there.

I'm sure glad I somehow made it through my late teens-early twenties.
And I don't envy you your job, it must be really rough trying to save someone that young and then seeing there's no chance.

That really sucks medic , I know that those of us that work in the medical field have seen some crazy things, Lord knows I have , But it still gets you when you come across these things. Your heart cant help to go out to the family. Sorry to hear about this.

I worked EMS for 13 years in ATL. I saw this stuff all the time. My heart always went out to the family.

If you ride like that, some day it will bite you. Unfortunately for his family he didn't survive. RIP

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. It's too bad he made the choice he did (to speed when he perhaps didn't have the best control.)

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine was killed riding his bike (very sad for the local community). He was riding in traffic in a construction zone, looked away briefly and didn't notice that traffic had come to a sudden halt in front of him. He probably locked up the front brake, came off his bike and his body slammed into two vehicles. He died two days later of internal injuries. Pretty sobering when it's somebody you know.

I don't mean to sound cold, but going at those speeds and then passing someone on the RIGHT side (probably at the last minute) is asking for it. It's a shame and now the family has to deal with this kid's stupid choice. If you absolutely must go that fast, make sure it's on an empty road or at least have an empty lane. Better yet, just don't go 100+ mph on highways.

No matter how he lived or died, someone loved him. Someone's heart is breaking. Someone's life will have an empty spot.
There's a memorial ride on Saturday for one of our PGR members, here in TN. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but guardrails hardly yeild to the softness which is us.

Man, nineteen, and now his whole life is behind him.

On the upside, he can still vote democrat.

The only correction that I have for you post is the word "choice"--you should have typed "choices". An accident is never the result of one factor--it's the result of many.

Two thoughts.

First, sorry for his family.

Second, hope he didn't breed.

This idiot was dead when he shifted out of neutral.

Sometimes when I read these message boards, and a young kid is asking specific questions, you can almost feel the danger that they're blindly going into. You want to say something, but you feel that it's not right to give too much input sometimes. Then you read about their wreck weeks later and feel badly again for not speaking up. I just wished there was a amiable way to warn these guys sometimes. I feel sad every time I hear about one of these unfortunate accidents.

being fairly low on actual seat time myself, I guess I can be labeled as a newbie, and let me me say, even if it may seem harsh, please give your advice as it comes from experience, most of us newbies really just want to learn how to have fun and stay alive
