WOW!!! What an awesome weekend it was in Red Lodge Montana.
First I'd like to thank all of those in Red Lodge who made our stay so enjoyable and made us feel like kings and queens. A big thank you goes out to Jim & Laurie and Larry & Trish for the unreal amount of preparation they did even before we showed up and for the unreal hospilaity we all recieved from them while we were there. I cannot say enough how grateful I am personally to be a part of the forums and the BTK family and for having such good time while there. As Gene mentioned I left them in Rocker Montana and peeled off heading to Silver Springs Nevada to vist Ken and Lynn for a day and then I'm off again to head home and rest hopefully for a day or two. THis morning (Tuesday) I was asking Ken how far it is to Red Lodge from his house. He said I rode about 950 miles yesterday to get here. My eyes popped open wide in disbelief as I wasn't even keeping track of miles but instead was gassing up and going onto the next gas station trying to make as good of time as I could. No wonder my lower back and butt hurt so much when I got here!!! Anyway...I wanted to say it was very nice to meet all the new members and now I have even a larger extended family after having met them all. It was very nice to meet you all and fro me to you thank you for being there and helping make what the BTK Rally is all about...."FUN"!!! |

950 miles seems a little low given your average running speed Cary.........
Glad to hear you had a great time, give Ken a big ole hug from me!

Well, Cary is on the road again. He got here Monday night around 11:00 and we stayed up talking until 2:00. Tuesday found us hitting some of the areas historic spots to include Ft Churchill. The fort was built in 1859 and served the wagon trains and Pony Express heading west over the California Trail. While walking around the forts ruins we found a sign of great interest to a tall man wearing short pants ... he was walking with extreme care after reading that.
![]() ![]() ![]() After going through the Cavalry Fort we went to Buckland Station (built in the 1860's) which had served as a stage stop, weigh station for wagon trains and the Pony Express. ![]() This morning it was coffee ready for him at 5:30 AM and back on the road around 7:30. I rode along with him up to the town of Fernley, Nevada putting him back onto Interstate 80. It was great to have my friend stop by and spend some time here. This is a man who loves to laugh and have fun, maybe stir the pot a little at times and just full of life. He is now heading for Oregon and Idaho. ![]() ![]()

Good god 950 miles in a day?!?! Cary you're amazing... or maybe that King Kahuna is the amazing one
Ken, it sounds like you both had a wonderful time touring around your neck of the woods- what a wonderful spot for a sun worshipper and history buff! Will have to get down there one of these years. Cary, post up when you make it home! |
