all right everyone..............chill a little

yeah, we have some with strong ideas, thats cool, but remember, we are all adults, no need to get upset about a difference in opinion, all of us have seen, and been a part of different crap over the years, it forms a little of who we are, and causes us to see things differently

and, everyone is entitled to their opinion, if it werent true, then I spent 7 years fighting for nothing wearing a crappy green uniform.

if we dont like this law, or feel its biased, then its time to start the letters, and organizing........but I gotta ask,

Is this the biggest threat to all if us right now, or could maybe the outcome of the next election be more important, or maybe the state of education, or maybe the national budget

in other words, lets put this new law, which as far as I know hasnt impacted any of us yet, in proper perspective and order of imprtance

now, everyone relax and watch sons of anarchy

The fact is plain to see that there are double-standards and stupid laws on the books that are handed out from people who have bad days and act irrationally just like anyone else. I never said I know how to fix the horrible laws or justice system, but like I said...I KNOW that the way it is run now is just plain broken.

I find it funny that the people that tend to stick up for this BS the most are afterall...LEO's. I guess it is to be expected. You went to school and had it beat into your head what a great thing you are doing. For one argument you will tell me you are just doing your job, and then for another argument you will say that it comes down to personal attitude on what slides or not. You still haven't addressed the laws that are on the books that I mentioned in my previous posts...and I know why. It is because they are dumb dumb dumb. They make anything an offense and then the general public have to go through the meat-grinder system that was set-up to relieve us of our funds.

FACT: a LEO is just like anyone else...they have both bad and good days. Their attitude has a direct impact on my day and my bank account.

This equates to selective enforcement. You might argue that selective enforcement is a good thing, but I argue that it really isn't such a good idea...as it enforces confusion of the laws in the first place. Now what we have is a population that is confused and easy pickings for a revenue generating machine that is enforced by people such as the average LEO. Seriously go click that link to the laws that I posted up and you justify to me that those laws are good and should be used. Go ahead I'll wait. No? I didn't think so.

Law enforcement is a job, but more importantly it is a BUSINESS. Do you want me to post up some links to show the revenue that is brought in from an average police station? As a business it is run as such...hence the stupid high fines. They have us right where they want us...we are confused and angry and defiant, and they claim, "safety first" and laugh all the way to the bank, while you think you are doing good by enforcing the foolishness. Congrats man, you are essentially an errand boy who gets to beat on/tazer/club/smoke fools if they resist your orders. Of course you won't get in any trouble as long as you follow the protocols for taking someone else's life. And you challenge me to do this as well? Not happening man...in my eyes what some cops do is the real criminal mentality, and a guy who mounts his plate sideways is just trying to live his life.

As I said before, there is no way I or anyone else will change you mind. You know everything about everything.

Hope you have a good life.

That was EXACTLY his point.

By the LETTER OF THE LAW... with no "officer discretion" or "selective enforcement"... that is EXACTLY what would happen TODAY!

Orwellian? Perhaps, but we are already there... it's not some future world in some sci-fi-horror movie.

Ya, but we can't fight about that anymore, so we have to have something else to fight about.

Rich, can you write up a post in your short available spare time to clue us (me) in on AMA and ABATE? I've looked at their respective web sites, and just didn't see enough there to understand what they're doing. I'd like to know how I can get more involved with an organization like these without throwing money into the wind and hoping that it makes a difference. The ABATE program in NJ seems... spare, and I've heard enough AMA jokes to make me think twice. Both sites claim to look out for biker's rights, but I don't see a clear agenda and strategy. Maybe this would be better started as another thread?

I do agree to an extent on AMA. They've pretty much become a race sanctioning organization and it doesn't seem that they do a lot in the way of lobbying. Most often, they tend to come down on the side of "the masses", pushing for more helmet laws, advocating stock pipes, etc....

ABATE chapters are hit and miss. At the state and national level, they seem to get the job done. On the local level, it all depends on who is running the chapter. Some are very good and extremely active, and others are doing good to have a monthly dinner meeting.

Many/most of the oddball laws had a reason at one time and they were simply never removed from the books.

Example, in California, it is illegal for a "driverless" vehicle to travel at over 60mph.
Sounds stupid, but consider that California has been the location where advanced vehicle technologies have been developed and tested... and in some cases tested on public roads, and it becomes not such a stupid law.

Spitting on the sidewalk? Sounds dumb... but go back to the 1800s when roads were dirt and sidewalks were wood. 4 or 5 guys chewing could make a very dangerous, slippery mess in a couple of hours hanging out in front of the local watering hole.

Some laws may have been passed to rid the town of a particular public nuisance.

How dare I? Simply put, this is how I feel. How the heck do you expect someone to take your attitude? Dude you have talked about ultimate compliance with the law...and you think that the 1,000.00 dollar amount is a good idea...and let's not forget you saying that you should be able to just shoot squids. That was a good one, too. How dare I? Man how dare YOU?

When I asked you if you were seriously behind the "felony for plate infraction" law you replied to me with:

"...Because we're not allowed to shoot the SOBs when they pop wheelies in traffic, then duck in and out of traffic to get away, putting even more innocent lives at risk -- and, all too often, destroying those lives.
You give me that green light, and I don't even care if there's a license plate at all, much less how it's mounted -- that's something for the guys who clean up the wreckage to deal with..." You in a hurry to get your gun on or what? How dare I? Dude you just said you wanted to kill squids. But I dare?

From you, here:

"...Not at all. MY point was that it doesn't matter what the penalty is if you don't break the law..."

So don't break the law and there is no problem right? OK NOW, go and click that link and read some of the laws that are on the books. Go Ahead seriously. NOW...are you going to tell me that you have never broken the law? Even you being a LEO??? But we both know that you have....especially when you put someones life under the microscope. Before you go and try to harass me by getting my private information and calling your homie's to mess with me, why don't you take that same microscopic look at your own life buddy. With the laws on the books WE ARE ALL CRIMINALS...even you. You want to make my life difficult? You first. Go turn yourself in for every illegal act you ever committed, seeing as you are a beacon of lawfulness.
"But as long as we follow the law we don't have anything to worry about." So absolute compliance, "or else"....well that same, "or else" just came back and bit you too. You don't get it yet? Hopefully you will, seeing as you are a LEO. Maybe you never will, but I am less and less concerned that you understand my viewpoint. You are just as set in your cop mentality as I am in my own mentality. Too bad...they really did a number on you.

You mean, you will take the benefit of my discretion, then condemn me for using discretion?

In that case, we really have nothing to talk about. You think you're the only one who's important in this society, and to me, you're just one more self-centered, self-righteous selfish 5-year-old out of millions.

I dare because I AM THE ONE WHO HAS TO DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH. I am the one who holds the hand of the dying child, then has to explain to the parents something which can't be explained. I am the one who has to tell my guys that there is a blue Ninja out there whose rider is wanted for hit and run vehicular manslaughter of a 9-year-old who got knocked 20 feet out of the crosswalk by a squid popping a wheelie past the elementary school, but we don't know for sure who the squid was because the plate was hidden. I am the one who has to listen to the administration demands that every sportbike be stopped and examined for blood and hair, and who goes to the city council meeting to explain ONE MORE DAMN TIME that the problem is only a small handful of jackasses, not every motorcyclist in the state.

YOU BET YOUR *** I WOULD LIKE TO SHOOT SQUIDS. I would rather let THEM pay for their stupidity, instead of hoping that they are able to keep from killing someone.

But more than that, everyone here -- except, of course, for the squids -- can also "dare," because everyone one of us is harmed each time some squid pops a wheelie in traffic. Especially if you ride a sportbike, you should be eager to get the squids off the road, because they make YOU look like an irresponsible and dangerous criminal.

If you look back, you see that I've been warning that bad things were on the say, all courtesy of squids, and our only hope of dodging those things was to try to rein in the squids privately, amongst ourselves. The response here was pretty much that I didn't know what I was talking about.

Then I commented on a conference at which I spoke, and the responses were defiance ("I'll just keep riding").

Well, pal, now the bad things are starting to arrive, but these things are aimed like a laser at the squids, and all I'm seeing from you is a temper tantrum, personal insults, etc. You aren't willing to engage in discussion, you just want to harangue me for being opposed to squidism.

So, it's all yours. I'm through trying to educate you to the ways of the real world.

Figure it out or not, I'm through arguing with you about this stuff. I have better things to do with my time.

okay, so much for taking it easy everyone.....................

both of ya again, try and relax, havent always agreed with either of you, but the law is passed, blaming anyone isnt going to help now

now personally, if we are gonna shoot anyone, I would like to cap the guys who talk real loud on cell phones in a restaurant or grocery store, now that there is a problem.

or the people with small dogs in purses, they are a real pain

Motor you are a criminal just like EVERYONE else. Now go and shoot people for darting through traffic. I am not willing to engage in discussion while this whole time you still refuse to address the laws on the books. You won't address them because your argument goes right to ****. Right but I am throwing a tantrum. What a friggin' typical copper you are. Tell me I am childish, tell me I am just throwing a tantrum...but we both know that you can't defend those laws...you know, the laws you said we should all just obey. From now on I dub you a CRIMINAL. Go turn yourself in. I am just as through with you as you are with me. Awesome
