Today, many members of the PNW local gang International branch gathered in the sleepy throwback western style town of Winthrop Washington to have lunch, good fellowship and pickup the brotherhood and sisterhood that is held in esteem between the participants.
It started off from the west side of the Cascade Mountains a gray overcast day with promise of a showing of the sun. Roger (rod2625), Boyd (Number One Son), Bill Austin and I started out at 10:00 to hit the North Cascade Highway over to our Destination. We didn't know till we got on the road but there was apparently a Star Riders Association Ride going on as there were Yami's...uh Stars all over the place. On once uphill sweeper curve we encountered an ambulance, rescue truck and fire truck off on the gravel pull out. It appears that a sport bike went over the edge, not sure how he could've missed the gentle corner unless he was going real fast. on our return leg, we saw the wrecker truck hauling the bike back toward town. Anyway other than that little mishap, it was a GREAT ride from west to east to meet up with our friends. Here are a few pictures to prove it happened Boyd and Roger talking pre-ride http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...8/DSCF1886.jpg ![]() Rogers beauty of a 900 classic ![]() Boyds 1500 Classic ready to go ![]() My V2k ![]() Along the way, we stopped off at the Washington Pass Scenic Overlook to take a biological break and take in the view ![]() ![]() Looking down from the overlook to the roadway below, has to be at least 300' if not more ![]() Here's the gathering of the attendees upon our arrival - Finer People you will never meet ![]() ![]()

What a great time to visit with friends.
Total mileage, 810 from our driveway and back over 3 days of riding to and from. Stayed at a little hole in the wall motel Friday night, then onto Winthrop Saturday for the meet up. Rode back to Spokane on Saturday evening. Stayed at Jeff and Sandy's (vulcanism) house. Got fed dinner and even escorted out of town by Jeff Sunday morning. Thanks Jeff, that was a nice ride instead of taking the freeway. Got home this afternoon. All in all a great weekend. Both the C14 and the zx14 ran like champs. Bek and I even swapped out bikes for a short while. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I apologize Brent for not being there to enjoy the visit and help get your bikes clean. I hope this doesn't mean the bikes will begin to show signs of rust now. |
