Hi all! My name is jason, I have a 05 zzr 1200. Love it!!! I just have one question for anyone who might know. I've read a lot of reviews and am on zzrbikes, and have found that the average mpg most people get, even running fast, is between 37-54 mpg. This kinda makes me mad, because I ride most of the time at 50mph, and the best mpg that I got was 31 mpg. That is with the carb shims, before the shims I got 24 mpg. I've done my plugs and filter, they looked fine, but still did them. I got my bike with 1954 miles on it and it now has right around 3700 miles. When I got it, it had been low sided by the previous owners friend. Does anyone have any ideas why my mpg would be so much less??? No I don't gun it every where, and it just seems wierd that after shimming I'm getting better mpg. Verry frustrating!!! Oh yea, it runs great, doesn't seem like it bogs out or anything!!!![]() |

How long is a piece of string?
Some bikes just don't get the mpg all the time. Proper sized tires and sprockets?

Apiece of string is 3 inches long so that you can flog small roaches or strangle them if their big enough!! The problem is that I don't get the mpg at any time. The tires I just had replaced, as far as I know of the spriockets are straight stock!! I do smell gas around the gas tank, but every time that I've pulled the tank I don't see anything. Someone told me that my carbs may be filling up and dumping when I go into a corner, but I don't have anything in the airbox, or notice anything like bogging after the corners.
