After deliberating for months on how we could find, or even purchase a Ninja 250, my wife caved in and bought the little honda rebel yesterday! She said she didn't want to wait till after winter to get back on a bike for fear of losing what she learned in the MSF class. We went to the dealership and we had been contemplating finding a used 250 of any sort. They had a brand new '09 rebel in that pretty blue color she likes so much.
Interestingly, there was an old man there looking at it. He applied for financing and was approved, but without a word, got in his car and left. My wife made her decision right there! We walked over to the sales guy (we like this guy a lot now) and handed him the honda card and told him we would be back in an hour to pick it up. She figures she will ride it until next year and then either trade it in or sell it in order to go with something bigger. We are undecided if we will both be trading up to a larger cruiser, or if she will trade up to a sport bike. Whatever we do, it should be fun! This isn't her bike, but a pic from Honda's site of the same one. I will post a real picture as soon as she takes it somewhere scenic. ![]()

HOLY SMOKES !
Her insurance is less than 1/5 of what mine is on this thing! lol Well she took it around the block 4 or 5 times, came in and said "Let's go for a ride". We took it out in the country for a little while and then rode over to her dad's house. He was excited and said he loved the little bike. I got to give it credit. This little bike has no problem running right along. We haven't taken it over about 55 yet, but it isn't straining even out on the bigger roads. I like this little thing! hehe SO now I am thinking of how long before I want to either trade in the sporty or just fork out some extra bread for a cruiser and keep the sport bike. LOL. Either way, I see another bike in my future. I don't think we will ever find a sport bike she can ride comfortably and to be honest, it felt good to actually put my weight back on my butt today on that little beast, lol. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Take care, Robert

Robert, this is such exciting news! I'm so happy to hear that your wife liked her MSF course so much that she couldn't wait for a bike of her own! You guys are in for some fun, fun times. And fantastic memories, as well.

My wife rode a 454LTD, before it became the 500 Vulcan, she moved up to a Vulcan 800a that I bought as a wrecked total. She has planned our last 2 outings all herself, Friday about midday she asked;"How long would it take for yo u to be ready to ride somewhere for the weekend when we get home tonight"? My reply was 15 minutes but it actually took me 20!

Here is a picture of the REAL motorcycle taken in front of the house. Notice the helmet actually matches the paint (and I think the tank decal is close lol)
![]() PS Thanks for all the congrats! We had a lot of fun today and I can't wait to get out on the mountain roads with her soon!

We just sold an 06 Rebel in March. Great bike, this is about the best Rebel site out there. They still let me hang out even though we have three Kawi's.

Golly gee wow mate!! That's a mighty fine lookin scoot yer wife picked out! Gratz to her & you!
So you're thinkin cruiser eh?! Yup, can't beat em for long distance comfort & somethin tells me you're gonna be spending a lot of time in the saddle! If ya can swing it, I'd get a cruiser & hang onto the sportie for those times when ya got just a little too much attitude!!

Robert,
Congrats to you and your wife! I got my wife a bike on Friday too. I got her a 2002 Vstar 650 Classic. It's in my buddies garage waiting for the Insta Trike kit (aka training wheels ) to show up. Maybe the next time we meet we'll have a couple more bikes in the parking lot.

Robert, I'm sorry I don't remember your wifes name, but tell her congrats! That rebel sure is a beaut (purrrdy). I know the two of you are going to have many happy miles together. Can she flat foot it? ha ha
Already got you thinking about a cruiser, you wouldn't be sorry on those long trips. Hope to get together again sometime. Again CONGRATS! |
