I was thinking on the ride home this afternoon how odd it is that I ride a bike now. I said "I would never own one of those two wheeled death traps", and now, I love riding. It's affordable and efficient. That was my original motivation for getting on two wheels, but now, well I am hooked. I can't really explain it. I just enjoy it. It relaxes me and it seems to clear my head. The only thing I can relate it to is working the flight deck of a aircraft carrier. It's dangerous, but somehow it calms me.
So why do you folks ride? Just curious. Cheers, The Grape |

Due to my poor credit I could not get financed for a lease or new car since I don't have a car currently I needed transportation. I was not inrested in paying outragous APRs for a large investment in a car and they deprecate in value so far. I've always wanted a motorcycle and when I saw a new 2008 250r was 3,500 it was a no brainer.

In a nutshell, because I could no longer afford the gas needed to get to work.
Don't get me wrong, I've become very attached to my bike and I doubt I will ever give up riding, but the decision to buy was based purely on economics. I'd often thought about getting a bike, but I always came to the conclusion that it would be a waste of cash, because I would never ride it. Once gas topped $3.00, it became that clear that I would ride it every day, and I pretty much have since March. Heck, I already know what my next bike will be. ![]()

First reason is for my late father who could never afford to ride. Second is just because. There's nothing like it, it's fast, it's fuel efficient, it handles great, the list goes on.

It helps me avoiding killing people when I ride after work. It is also cheaper than a shrink and a straight jacket.

I think it's the perfect way to see the country. I travel at or just under the speed limit on the back roads. I can see the sights, smell the smells and just take it all in. The wife and I like to stop lots and just enjoy the day. It just seems to me that you have more freedom on a bike than in a cage. To put it simply.....I LOVE IT!!!

Riding has to do with several things, 1. I like the Freedom, 2. It's a lifestyle for most people , 3 it is efficient,4. it is theraputic, 5.most riders are cool 6. it's a nice way to have fun .
There are more reasons that can be listed , I'm sure.

Being married with 2 children, and the fact that we home school, it is MY alone time. Besides the obvious, gas prices, freedom,ect.... It is my time to get away for awhile and think, get a fresh breath and regroup. It's all about ME, ME, ME !!!!!

Because I missed the open air of my Jeep when I had it..... sadly can't afford another, modifying it was like crack. Got my bike as a way to make up for it and now more attached to it then my jeep. Good thing is ... I am an auto mechanic but refuse to learn tooo much about the bike , forcing me to spend money for the labor on upgrades. Or atleast so I tell myself. Thus slowing the emptiness of my wallet.

I've riden from the time I was 16.....over 40 years ago. It makes me feel good to ride. Did then, still does now.

I ride for fun....Love to explore new places, and go on long trips on the bike.....find it a chore to drive a cage now.
But am always up for a bike ride.

It's just been ingrained into everything i have ever done. i have pictures of me on my dad's motorcycle at the age of 3. So i have been around them for 35 years now.
I don't think i would know what to do if there wasn't a bike in the garage.
