Thanks, Ben and Mayo. I'm trying not to think about it too much or I get really sad. It's not just leaving so many good friends behind, but also two of our kids, my sister and her family, and my parents. But it's easy to travel these days, and I'll have to come back every year to do my chile, anyway.

Wow! Bummer! I know Alan will be able to find something good with his credentials. We are really going to miss visiting you guys when we are in CO.
Has Alan considered anything around Chicago? The riding is lousy and the weather sux but, hey, we could be neighbors. Good luck with where ever you end up. It just means Danielle and I will have one more place to visit. Love you guys, Scott

I have wanted to live in San Diego since I first visited there when I was 17 (that's, ahem, 30+ years ago).
Year-round riding! Can't beat that! I have a cousin down there and I love going to visit. SD is one of those "little big cities" that have maintained their charm and have so much to offer, culturally. Good luck to your husband in his job search! I know you'll keep us posted on what will be happening.

Thanks, Scott. We'll miss your visits a lot.
Alan had another interview--this time with a company in Petaluma. We're actually more excited about this opportunity. We really like northern California. Wish us luck!!

I hope he lands a job soon, no matter where you wind up. Too much city for me in SD. Northern Ca. if he can get it, has a lot of open roads to venture. I'm sure you'll find places to ride anywhere. Best of luck to Alan and you.

Sorry to hear about the job loss Julie. I feel kinda unsecure here at my job, even though the company is doing well even in these bad times.
Anyways, good luck. Northern Calif. will definately have some cool rides. I used to live in Southern Calif. San Diego is a nice place to live. The ocean is close, great for Diving, riding to the mountains like Big Bear and Lake Hemet aren't too far and cool. But beware of Mexico. They believe all Americans are rich, and it can be very dangerous. I have a friend who moved here from Mexico City, and he thought we were all rich until he moved here and learned differently. He had to help one of our techs that went to Mexico on a job and got into the wrong Taxi, robbed and stabbed. Long stretches of road in Mexico can be dangerous too. It's a fun place, but always be aware and ready to react. Good luck to you.

Another vote for N. California, especially the area around Petaluma!
That would make a fantastic hub from which you can enjoy hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of excellent roads/rides... ... and you're still close enough to the main metro Bay Area to be able to enjoy the benefits of the cultural aspects there. Either choice would be nice, but definately +1 for Petaluma/Santa Rosa area! Looking forward to hearing more news as things develop. Don
