We attended in 2006 from Edmonton. Took 3 days to ride down, but made it home in 2 days. Were planning on stopping in Calgary on the way home but totally forgot about Stampede so just pressed on for home. Plan on attending, you'll make some new and wonderful friends and the riding in the area has to be on everyone's "must do" list: Beartooth and Chief Joe Hwy.

I've also never ridden in a group ride where everyone seemed to be in sync, we headed up Beartooth Pass with over 20 bikes, but I know that everyone felt comfortable, not pressured into riding above your ability but definitely not a parade either, as baby bear said "Just right". A few of the speedy guys (daemon, ispeed, ...) would blast out ahead to wear off the sides of their tires so that's an option as well.

Thanks for the links and info, as long as I can get out of my Friday night shift, me and the wife are there. We've never been to anything like this...do we just show up and see the sights or are there planned activities...

Hi WJW - Usually, Friday night we go for dinner in town, typically the Carbon County Steak House or this year some may opt to go to the Pizza Joint in town...I think Jim made reservations for us already...Then Saturday we do a ride, generally a loop around the area, pretty much an all day deal with Lunch involved. Saturday afternoon we just hang out and shoot the breeze, drink soda and beer - then perhaps a burger/bean cookout at Alpine Lodge and some music to follow with some dancing...Sunday some folks leave, some stay, and maybe another ride up the beartooth pass, or just lunch up town.
Its great! You'll have a good relaxing time!
