Default 97 zx7 ignition switch removal help

how do you remove the ignition key switch on the zx7, it appears to be held on by rivets or something similar.

they are security screws. drill the heads off and just put normal screws/bolts back in. or get the security torx bits off ebay

so, after you drill the security screws out, and upon re-installation, do ya have to drill and tap it, or are there treads in there, ???

your only drilling the HEAD off the screw NOT DRILLING THE WHOLE SCREW OUT. just use a drill bit thats a little bigger than the threaded portion of the bolt and go easy, if will finally just pop the head off and the rest you can get with an easy out/reverse drill bit (left handed), plyers etc. you may have to heat the area a bit since they will prob. have used RED/BLUE loctite on the bolts.

QKENUF4U is dead on, I had to do the same thing on mine. Some of the smaller hardware stores will have a better selection of metric bolts than the big depot types FYI. If you have any questions about that new ignition let me know because one little snag will drive you nuts! The first time I did it I missed one little thing and spent an xtra week in the garage. I had fun, but the wife got tired of it
