    Default 800A Handlebar measurements?

I don't know if anyone has this info or not. But I wanted to buy a Barsnake to reduce vibes in the handlebar. They have two to choose from:

Bar Snake Model ST-1. Fits most standard steel non high rise bars of 7/8" outside diameter. Most steel bars should be about 23/32" inside diameter and 40" long.
Bar Snake Model AL-2. Fits most aluminum crossbrace handlebars with 7/8" outside diameter, internal diameter of 9/16 and 40" long.

I don't know the inside diameter of a stock handlebar (2005 Vulcan 800A). To get it, I assume I need to cut the grips off? Which means no riding until the weight comes in. I emailed them, but for some reason, they have no application reference material (??), and basically told me to get the correct one, I need to select one based on handlebar size. Then they can sell me the right one (????).

Anyone happen to know this obscure tidbit of information (length and inside diamter)? Thanks!

They are 1 inch handlebars. The overall length is roughly 40-42 inches. Measurements taken off my stock 1999 800A handlebars. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I ordered the wrong size. I'll reorder. Thanks again.

Anytime. I remember when it was easy, HD and GL1000 had one inch bars, everything else was 7/8th inch. Even many of the modern offroad biks now use one or 1.25 inch bars. Standardization is a "good thing", since all the nice grips and junk are for Harleys.

Don't be too surprised if the bar snake doesn't work as advertised. I generally fill the lower section of the bars with a #6 birdshot/epoxy blend, IF I bother with vibration dampening. Urethane bar bushings work better, cost less, and are available at your nearest Autozone (compact car sway bar bushings can work great). I just hardmount my bars and wear gloves.

Why would you need this, the bars have hardly any vibration. I got a set of ISO grips to help with wrist fatigue, but I haven't noticed any vibration in the handlebars. Check the bolts on the risers, make sure they are tight.

Also check tire pressure, make sure you are running 40psi front and back. Also check for cupping.

I get tingles pretty quick when riding. I was trying anything I can to reduce vibration (It could be my circulation too, not the bike). I bought Kuryakyn ISO grips and a throttle boss but have not installed them yet.
My bar snake order got all messed up anyway and I'll probably return everything. If I have a problem after the new grips are installed, I may try some end weights.
    Thanks.

When I started riding again last year, I was worried because my left hand would get the "tingles" too...almost to the point of feeling like it was going to sleep. I read on this forum about others liking the Kuryakyn ISO grips, so I put them on my bike. The numbness and tingling now is almost nill. Hoefully you'll have the same results when you install the ISO grips.

Try the grips and throttle boss first, see if they help. They do help a lot with the tingles. The Bugsplat risers also helped me by putting the grips in a better location.
