So, today I am going to make a new seatpan/seat setup for my '05 Vulcan 500...I'll be leaving the original seat intact...but fiberglassing a new saddle right on the frame. I've done fiberglass work before, entire body panels on cars, but never on a bike. Also, since the original seat bolted to the rear fender, I am going to make a miniscule little pillion seat just to cover the bolt hole and the 2 screws in my fender. Any suggestions or comments? I'll try to put some pics up soon...the little Vulcan looks like a different bike without that big seat on 'er.

Here's two pics, one from each side of the bike...I think it looks pretty good. I still need to remove that darned emissions sticker that was under the original seat. Rear pad won't be done till after Thanksgiving. I ended up going with a teardrop shaped pad with 1" of foam...not very comfortable but it should look great... it covers the two screws originally under the seat and the original seat mounting bolt hole. I sit MUCH lower on the bike, about 6" I think...the original seat was flat over the waist of the frame and had quite a bit more padding than the 1" of closed cell foam used now.
