Well, the restoration just hit a little bump....

I just sealed up the oil pan 2 days ago, filled her up with new, fresh oil, put her all together, and she was running great for about 20 seconds... then all the sudden I heard a crack, and she just stopped, and you could hear (and see) metal pieces bouncing off the garage floor, sparking as they go... In the first picture (taken right after it happened) you can still see the smoke coming out of the hole. I have not opened up the engine yet, but I am sure it is not going to be a pretty sight, Might just strip the engine down and use it for bolts.... I think I can still use the head, but the whole bottom end is probably shot. Damn. 2 days away from a test ride, but I guess it is better to happen now then to happen on the freeway.

Off to find another engine. Too far into the project to stop now.

You're on a mission now!
Had the engine been running before you began your resto? Any idea what caused it? I've seen a fair share of seized engines but not many "blooies".
Best of luck to you in any case!
