    Question Headlight & taillight problem

Hi guys, I'm new here and to the world of motorcycling. I have ridden before but only dirt bikes. I just got my first street bike. A 1983 KZ550. NIce bike, especially for the price. Anyways.....

I was heading to work tonight and as I left the headlight was on, (I always check before I leave) but as I pulled up behind a truck, I noticed that I could not see the headlight reflecting in the paint of the tailgate. I got to work and noticted that the headlight, taillight and the front marker lights were not working. The brake light works as do the turn signals (and hazard lights). I checked the connections and the fuses and everything seems fine. The bike runs and drives fine and everything else works normal. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem???

I plan on checking the power and tracing the wires with a meter when I get home over this weekend. Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jon

Check the bulbs. They may be interconnected for power, if one goes out, they all do.

Could be an ignition switch because they have separate sets of contacts for different things. On mine, most of the lights go through one set.

Otherwise check switches or harness connections which can corrode.

get a schematic for your bike, you may find all those items hang on one accessory line that is serviced by a specific switch or connector.
