Ok... lets see how best to explain... the lil window that shows coolant level says i'm on the low side but when i open the radiator cap there is fluid to the top... i removed all the fairing pieces and when i looked under the gas tank i noticed a coolant cap on the i guess you would call it the reserve tank maybe? Now when i start my bike and let it idle for about 10 minutes in 68 degree temp outside within that time it the bike gets up to 144* and steadily climbs 145 146 147 148 i shut it down after it got up to 170. Now i dont know if just adding some coolant to the reserve tank would help this problem or if i'm seeing symptoms of a more serious problem. Such as water pump failing or somehow the system is plugged? The bike is an 05 ZX6R with 9057 miles on the odometer. The bike has been laid over and the stator cover was cracked which resulted in a oil leak. This is being replaced tomorrow my question i guess is... will adding coolant to the reservor do anything about the rapid climb in temperature? Thanks for any advice or help you guys/gals can give i'm anxious to get my bike back out on the road but i dont want to do more damage by rushing it and causing even more damage in the long run.

After you start riding does the temp drop?
If I just let mine idle it will steadily climb until the fan kicks on, which is over 200.

that is the reservoir, the radiator will be full unless the recovery system isn't working.
my bike has gotten up to 220 or so in last summers heat.
