Default 1992 Ninja 600R Faulty IC Igniter

The IC Igniter or CDI box like some people calls it, fails intermittently. I can ride the bike for a couple of miles and then it stop working. At first I tougth it was the connector but everything checked fine. I can start tapping on it and it will start working again. Has anybody see this problem before. If I replace the box, would that solve my problem?

You can take the igniter to a Kawasaki dealer and have them test it and that should tell you if it is good, sometimes when the igniter goes it takes the pickup coil or the stator with it, if it is the igniter give us a call at Beartooth Kawasaki 1-800-556-3098 and we will save you 15% good luck!

I'm glad you got that one kawi, I didn't have any clue what this one was about.

You're just this giant hunk of information, like the internet, but more organized and less porn.

Hi

A hint from a GPZ305-owner:

The ignition of my bike (german version) could be interrupt by :
- Igniton switch (of course)
- Kill switch (of course also)
- clutch-switch in association with the idle-gear-lamp
- and the side-stand switch

The side-stand-switch begins often to "rattle" on bad streets or gets wet and causes ignition failures hardly to localize. Especially if the bike stands still everything seems to work fine (no rattle).
