Exclamation 1997 kawasaki kx80 clutch problems HELP me

i just got this kx80
i put a new top end in it and i had to buy a pusher clutch so i did
then i put it all back together
i didnt start it yet but i put it in first gear and pulled the clutch lever and it does not engage the clutch to move the bike freely
i looked at the clutch basket it looks good but its scratched up around the sides
i tried to adjust the cable but it pulls the acuator arm all the way so the lever is doing the job but not engaging the clutch help me please

First of all, did you buy the clutch new or used? The scratches make it sound like it was used. There are a number of reasons why the plates don't separate when you squeeze the clutch lever. It sounds like you eliminated the need for adjusting the handle lever and the clutch arm. Did you try adjusting the release rod? Your clutch drag could be caused by warped or binding clutch plates. If your clutch was used, I'd check the grooves on the clutch basket for wear indentations where the prongs of the clutch plates seat. This would cause the plates not to separate when the clutch is released.
