Default Help Removing 82KZ550LTD Carbs

Hey I just recently acquired an 82 KZ550LTD, and need to clean the carburetors really bad. Does anyone know the best way to attack them? I have taken the gas tank off and removed the seat. I'm guessing that using a hair dryer to heat up the tubes coming off the air filter would help to get them to give a little bit, but I have no clue on how to remove the carbs themselves, since all four are hooked together...HELP... anyone?

You'll have to loosen the clamps next to the motor, probably with a Phillips screwdriver. Heating them up a little will help before you take the carb BANK (all 4 of them together) off. You'll have to wiggle them gently, up and down and back and forth to get them off.

The method I use is once you get the airbox rubbers soft and the clamps on the front side loose, collapse the top of the airbox tubes down till they pull off of the carbs on the top. Now do a up/down rocking motion on all 4 as you pull back on them. Keep working them back with the back end angled slightly upward till the front just clears the holders, then slide them out to either side. When about half way out you should be able to get to the throttle cable/s and disconnect them then bring the carbs the rest of the way out.
