Default handlebars

Well i finally got to take my bike out today on a decent ride down the highway. i was doin around 70 and realized my handlebars seem a little off. the right one is closer to the seat than the left one. is there any special way to correct this? or should i just get the correct hex wrench and loosten up the right one and fix it? and another thing about them, it may just be that the right one is off or the left or which ever i guess you just kinda have to decide where you like the handlebars, but how can you tell the forks are completely straight, i know when i relax my body and hands it rides straight so i would assume everything is ok. any ideas? comment?

Which bike do you have? Any risers added?

Has the bike ever been dropped? If so it's possible the bars got bent then. If not...and the bars have been loose before they may not have been straightened the last time after tightening. You can loosen up the bolts (if it has risers) and sit on the bike and correct the angle then simply tighten things up. Have someone help you when you do this so they will remain straight as you tighten things up.

sounds like it was dropped at one time and broke the LOCATER tab on the bars where they bolt to the fork tubes.
