Engine cuts out...
Let me start off by saying this is my first bike. I have a 2005 ZZR600 (ZX600J4). There's 100 miles on it so I'm still breaking it in (keeping under 4000rpms). Late last night I took it out on the highway to put a few miles on it. So I'm doing a steady 50 mph at 4000rpms for a few minutes, and then all of a sudden the engine dies, and I coast to a stop. Engine temp was around 145F, the oil light was on. I check the oil level, and it was slightly above the top mark (I guess the dealer put in too much?). The bike wont start up for another few minutes of sitting. Once it does, I get going again. Then the engine dies again a few minutes later. So after waiting a few minutes to start it back up, I took local roads back home and didnt have the problem again. It was the first time I took the bike on the highway. I'm sure it was probably about 30F outside last night, but I let the bike warm up for a few minutes before going. Does anyone have any idea on why the engine would die like that? Other than the engine dying it seems to run fine.
