2000 Bayou 220 Hi pinging noise

I found a Bayou I am thinking of buying, Its en excelent condition EXCEPT I get this hi pitch pinging sound from the top end. It doesn't sound like a normal sticky or out of adjusted valve clack. its Higher pitched. I rode it around the block a couple times, no change in the sound. All RPM's no change. Any ideas on this sound. I've owned bikes for 40 yrs and this one is odd to me. I'd like to get this thing. Valves and rings aren't a big deal to me, they are pretty easy to deal w/ and fix. but this sound I dont know.
Any input would help.
