I'm new to the forum and figured I'd ask here first for help. I have a 73 Z1 that I've owned for over 30 years. It had been sitting for some time and I finally got it running again awhile ago. One of the issues I had before was that the throttle would stick WFO, sure would get my attention. I physically had to push down on the carb linkage to get it to release. I decided to rebuild the carbs and found the slides were sticking terribly. I rebuilt them and found everything to be working properly again (I also changed the throttle cables and carb intake rubbers). Once I got the bike running again the throttle response worked but now if I rev it while sitting in neutral or riding the bike just continues to rev up with no throttle increase. I pushed down on the linkage as before but it doesn't slow the rev's. It's almost like a vacuum problem or something. BTW, I haven't vacuum sync'd them yet, could this be the issue? I'm stumped and sure could use some help..........
Thanks in advance, Kenny J |

Make sure the carbs are seated all the way in the manifolds and that all clamps are tight. Check for missing or cracked vacuum caps/lines. Also check the throttle cable adjustments. You should have a little free travel on the throttle before it starts to move at the carbs.
