i pulled the stator cover and my crankcase drained...
i am the first to admit i know little if anything about bikes but i have been doing my own work on cars since i was 14 and i've owned more than most... i assume (usually a mistake) that was supposed to happen but it struck me as wrong because even though i know oil is used in various capacitors for cooling...but in the case of a fly wheel/stator and pick up coil... moving parts are bound to create shavings that will float around and that has the potential to cause probs where electrical components are trying to do a specific job... so is that area of the motor supposed to be full of motor oil and if so how do these components avoid shorting and if they are designed to function in this environment what could possibly cause them to malfunction..?
